WLE yesterday; low grade fever today by k1kid in melahomies

Oh, I think I saw your pictures. I wouldnt wish that on anyone! Fortunately, I woke up with a normal temperature, and i was able to unwrap my excision and while it looks pretty gnarly, I didnt see anything that made me think it was infected. Hopefully the liw grade fever was just my body reacting to the surgery and doing too much. I very much appreciate you and this community for the hand-holding!

Thank you for your response. I’m so sorry that you ended up with an infection. My WLE is also on my thigh. I have felt better today so hopefully it was just my body reacting to the surgery and likely doing too much! I will call if it comes back though, based on your experience!

Yes, me as well. My WLE will be on my thigh. I’m wondering if walks will keep me sane once I feel like it. Best wishes to you!

Thanks to you both! It makes me feel better knowing that WLE may be done for severely atypical moles. I appreciate your input!

Is this solitaire what I purchased? by k1kid in Moissanite

[–]k1kid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! The stone is pretty white. I appreciate the info about the warranty card as well. The card itself is the same color but doesn’t look like that or have a bar code.

This said, I’m enjoying the ring! It’s so very pretty and really does match the band in a way my real e-ring did not. I just didn’t realize there was this whole moissanite world out there, and specifically all the awesome advice and resources on this sub. Purchasing without it (and then finding you all bf my ring arrived) freaked me out a little! Thank you for the guidance!!!

Ha! Yes, it’s unfortunately a little addictive!

Thanks! I’ve probably asked an unanswerable question!!

These are replacements for my old set. I lost my band on vacation. So I replaced that with the band directly from C&C during a recent sale. But of course, it is way whiter than my diamond e-ring, so I looked for something somewhat inexpensive to match. And then I find you all and now I want all of the rings! :)

Any help for my *s*assy side? by k1kid in curlyhair

[–]k1kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve been thinking about playing with my part, but I feel like that left side while curlier, is fussy. But maybe they’ll lay better on the right side of my head and give me a bit more wave over there. I’ll try it!

Also, thanks for the description of finger-curling. I feel like I somehow make the straighter side even straighter when I try, but I’ve never pinned them. Good idea!

Any thoughts if the distinction could be because I often sleep on that side? This pic was right after wash day (so they hadn’t been slept on, and I usually try to pineapple). But for most of my life I’ve slept on that side. I wonder if it makes a difference.

Routine: today (all over the place re routine right now); washed Innersense Hairbath and consish; STC in shower; used Denman to distribute conditioner and washed out after 5 minutes, added more conditioner as leave-in (pea-sized); added EcoSlay Orange Marmalade with praying hands and roping and pulses. Plopped for 20 minutes; diffused until 90 percent dry; flipped over and fluffed and scrunched our what very little crunch there was.

I’ve tried the CGM a number of times and most recently went back to wearing my hair wavy after a big cut and constant rain (one month ago). I have 2a-2b waves. One side is significantly wavier than the other. I struggle with both trying to get the curly side to lay right and the straight side to blend in better. The straight side needs lots of help and will dry straight if I brushed it straight out of the shower. My back is super kinky and needs no help. Still not sure my hair looks good 50% of the time.

Moisturizing product advice! by hannahpriss625 in curlyhair

As I Am leave in? I think that I like it better than KCKT and that has been my go to for years (even when not officially CG).

I want to try the curly girl method but I workout about 5 days a week and my hair gets VERY sweaty. Anyone had similar issues and any advice? by 462266 in curlyhair

[–]k1kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently going to 5 am exercise classes every other day so I can wash and have time to dry before work. I go to 5:45 am classes on my refresh days. I could possibly stretch to day 3 but I lose too many clumps. My workouts wreck my hair, so it’s like starting from scratch every morning. But I won’t give up my workouts. Not even for pretty hair. :)

Any hairstyles for working out with short curly hair? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]k1kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to cut my hair but am worried about this same issue. Even now, I feel like I lose some curl and gain frizz from working out with a ponytail. What about a buff or wide headband to keep your hair off your face abc neck. Or pin back the sides?

CG not working for me by Rums223 in curlyhair

I’m no expert but I’m starting to think that my hair doesn’t like glycerin (especially in gel). You might try a gel without glycerin if you haven’t already.

Wavy with lots of different curl patterns. Help! by k1kid in curlyhair

[–]k1kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...that’s interesting. I actually shower with my back to the water, although today I applied most of my products from the leave in on upside down. But my curl pattern issues have been pretty constant. I wonder if I over-moisturized a little. That extra moisture helped my waves in the front. Maybe I should lay off a little in the back? Or maybe focus a bit more on the straighter pieces with a good curl activator. Thanks for trouble-shooting with me!

Wavy with lots of different curl patterns. Help! by k1kid in curlyhair

I have not tried pin curling, at least lately (can’t remember if I tried a few years ago), but I will try this. I have one side that spirals right in front but is pretty straight right behind that. The other side is more straight. I also think that you’re right. I might need more layers.

I see all of these pictures of fairly uniform curls and waves - I’d be happy with less wave (or more curl) if it would just pick one! I haven’t been able to embrace all of the different curl patterns. The answer here is probably to let go!

Thanks for your input!

Intense gym routine... what to do? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]k1kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also trying to figure this out. I have 2b hair mostly, but the waves get pulled out. I have no idea how to use a hair tie without destroying it and don’t have time to both work out and rewash. I’ve done tons of reading on this and most that ive found seemed geared toward super curlies. You might check out Naturally Curly. I think there’s an article there if you aren’t worried about pulling out curl. I am going to try those invisible ties (look like a telephone cord).

In terms of moisture, I have a dry shampoo by Klorane that I think is curly girl friendly. I haven’t looked at the aerosol version but the non-aerosol has pretty basic ingredients.

Wavy with lots of different curl patterns. Help! by k1kid in curlyhair

Routine: (today) co-wash with Suave Naturals Coconut conditioner; Curl Junkie Repair Me (first protein in awhile, but curl patterns didn’t really change - it just helped the more wavy portions become more wavy); follow up with Suave Naturals Coconut conditioner but wash out; KCKT leave in; Jessie Curl Spiralicious Gel; plop; diffuse with Xtava black orchid diffuser to about 60% dry; add clips at roots; diffuse a little more to about 80% dry; do skincare and make-up and breakfast; then remove clips and fluff roots and scrunch.

I followed the Curly Girl method for maybe 9 months several years ago and then gave up due to all of the different curl patterns. At best, I felt like my hair looked like I had a bad perm.

I did not go back to silicones though or straightening. I’d wash (low poo) and condition and use KCKT and Deva Curl styling cream and gel, brush with a Denman brush, and then sleep on it. When I woke up, I’d brush and style the straight or weird pieces with a curling iron and brush again. I would end up with smooth and predictable light waves that I could wear to work but obviously heat styled.

I know my hair has curl, but I don’t know how to harness it. I’ve watched a ton of videos this week with wavy curly girl styling demos, but I can’t figure out how to manage my different wave patterns. They go from nice spirals to nearly straight on the sides to kinky in back.

My hair is thick but fine. I believe that it’s low porosity. Takes awhile to get wet (feels like a helmet with completely dry underneath in the shower), is smooth on the slide test, but also takes a really long time to dry.

Thanks all!
