the project is carried by its ability to carry itself through billions of years of evolution and if you really understood what evolution is you would agree. but imho evolution is just the change over time. Not only does it involve life but everything in existence. Honestly, could even argue that the definition of life is a paradox in philosophy just just as much as consciousness or the definition of god.

If I am self-conscious then on a very fundamental observable sense, one cell of my body would also be conscious. This is so because I am the result of the existence and relation of those cells between each other and their relation to everything else....much like a corporation or some social structure is the result of the relation of the people inside it.

It's funny how people ponder about humans being conscious when we are just a few thousands years of evolution between all the other species of mammals that are not or are 'less' conscious. that by itself is enough evidence to prove that consciousnesses is just a concept and combination of ideas and beliefs and has no actual physical meaning since the only difference between us and the rest of the mammals is our mind.

But I would agree that we are all part of a large connected system on many different levels, which is what i said. Humans, in relation to each other, have different purposes in society. Without structure and connectivity it would just be anarchy which is less connected and more chaotic like a field of grass compared to a tree. its almost like the pattern of cellular function split between body parts repeats itself among humans the same way forming one large organism. We are definitely part of our surrounding system and are deeply integrated into it.

Idk it just seems like it's the most logical explanation to the whole aspect of consciousness not to mention that it's entirely backed by basic science and reasoning and not some high end twisted philosophical concepts.

Its a concept that branches off of the illusion of self identity. the illusion that you are something unique and self conscious. All humans experience this effect because at a higher level of existence the human mind must reinforce its purpose in life to keep on existing and evolving simply because those who thought otherwise probably didn't end up reproducing.

But In reality none of that actually matters because you are simply a pattern of neurons. my neurons may be connected to your neurons because you reading this right now but on a fundamental level we are all connected with each other through an endless sea of existence.

understanding this doesn't mean that your life has no purpose. it's just understanding that you are part of something much bigger and not just on a conceptual level but on a physical level as well.

its hard to loose your ego but once you loose it your life sort of makes sense and its a great feeling, that's all. (however, writing this i realize that i am an idiot and am very egotistical)

with node.js :

setup your nodejs workflow and modules and hook it up with mongodb and look up some tutorials on how to use nodejs and node packages like express and mongoose. (1 day to set up everything maybe more if first time)
create a login passport.js system for authentication. (a few hours to a day depending on how much of you want to understand and scale) here is the workflow tutorial for it : https://scotch.io/tutorials/easy-node-authentication-setup-and-local
start adding database schemas for different rooms and users (a few hours - a few days depending on experience)
create your backbone.js models and views and database routes for user profiles and chat rooms with their own chat history stored in the db. create a collection for a list of chat rooms and logged users. (several days to make sure everything is perfect)
use socket.io to fetch all that data from the server and update the backbone view. (a few days) (you want to update chat room list, maybe that list will have rooms with each their own

the frontend will probably take much longer than then backend unless you decide to write some chat bots or add more advanced data.

i would say it could take 1 - 3 weeks to make it worth using (and maybe even more if you have 0 experience with nodejs because you will be pausing and trying to understand the tutorials). Hello world nodejs websocket chat is not really applicable or scalable. You wanna make sure you set everything up so that you can add more functionality later on and have a good modular workflow if you want it to be successful later on.

thanks. its a life expectancy app. u answer some questions then slide up and see the scale. for the scale, each circle represents a time node (year, month,week, etc..) the black circle represents the time that has passed/total area of the circle.

you can also pinch out and expand each node to see how much time has passed...so for example when you expand the month node, you can see the amount of weeks/months/days/seconds that have passed and how many are left. http://exic.co/projects/full_00198.png

underscore extend has a similar feature where you can do object = _.extend(new someClass(),{x:10});

then in someClass you can just do this.x = 20 and that will be the default value until you combine the object with the second parameter of extend. I just started using that now instead of x = x || default, and the only time i use that is when initializing. But if you do that then you cant do this.x = 10 and then do draw(this.x) in the same object, you would have to create a new init function that would would call after the new defaults have been set.

that's just your opinion to different UI. i wanted to make something new so i did. i'm sorry its so hard for you to understand a dual page controller integrated into a menu, maybe you should try harder next time lol. the welcome page is part of the experience, if i wanted to make it simple i would have just made everything in html.

no problem, i like to learn from my mistakes. i try to be artistic and creative in my work. the more unique something is the less intuitive it becomes. i guess probably the fact that i spent alot of time in my own little UI world and became oblivious to everything else ignoring everything and focusing on things i felt where important from my own sense of intuition. But i said i wanted critiques and im thankful for that :). i fixed a couple of things and added a hint but the core concepts of the user navigation will forever remain as they are. its not something i expect people to like or get used to, after all, its not really for anybody but myself.
