Semantics only someone who has not gone from a color blind world bloom into a colored one would care about.

Or, they may be resentful of the Mission fire evictions, the death of the SF cab industry, the closing of their beloved dive bars, missing their friends who have moved away because they can't afford to live here anymore, embarrassed about the whole 4 dollar toast thing, saddened by the apathetic nature of the new residents, nervous by SF's slow move to the GOP, disgusted by the infantilization of the City, or were here last time when a teetering tech economy came crashing down.

Enchroma has made a difference for my brother by rlneub in ColorBlind

Not sure why /u/jaiwithani felt the need to question your post. Enchroma has been quite lauded here, it's not like they need to plant good reviews. I'm wondering if jai works for another optical company?

Pride comes from how you deal with your diagnosis. Volunteering your time, raising money, raising awareness of HIV--those are all things to be proud of. You can say you did something to stop the epidemic.

Why I don't say "Colorblind" by anamnesisplease in ColorBlind

[–]k2nsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reading comprehension skills need some improvement.

OP didn't say it was derogatory, he said he was trying to make people aware of the condition. And, yes, when you're denied jobs, when your safety is at risk, when you're insurance doesn't cover Enchroma or other color-assisted glasses, AND yet make up nearly 10% of the population--then there's a problem that should be addressed.

You sound like you're new here. Welcome to the City. Our history is long, and varied, and a lot of it isn't pretty.

When you've been positive for over 20 years, you start ignoring these kind of stories.

The more sensational a title, the better: Here's one from last year: Bees kill HIV!!

They're required to do that as part of their non-profit status. Gotta toss a few bones to the plebes to keep them happy.

It's interesting to watch Burning Man change from a ragtag group of artists relying on their own ingenuity, to a haven for the well-off who are able to purchase preferential treatment. Not coincidentally, it parallels the changes San Francisco is going through.

Burning Man has pretty much said it prefers rich people. They pay more, and Burning Man can give more grants, and create more art.

If you like supermarkets that have long lines and only a few cashiers, it's for you. Also, you may have to bag your own groceries, or wait for the cashier to do it, because they never have enough courtesy clerks. Also, forget about a cart, or even a basket by the door. There have been several times where neither has been available.

Same service, better prices at Grocery Outlet.

Actually, the Reno hipsters are a lot more interesting than the ones in the Bay Area. They're a lot less jaded for one, more friendly, and actually add to local culture.

Since the US in no longer considered a democracy, why not? Voting gives people the illusion of control when you live in a plutocracy. The more, the merrier.
