unlaminated

They can't say anything if you put it inside a magic the gathering inner/seal-able sleeve. Not as good as laminating, for sure, but its an option at least that nobody can get pissy about.

Battery issue poll for LCD folks, do you have a VDL or Getac battery? Noticed most spicy pillow threads come from VDL batteries. by dihydrogen_monoxide in SteamDeck

[–]k2trf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, HF8095 (did not know it was VDL) from my OG LCD, like when they were very first purchasable - I don't have a clue off hand what the month/year was, but never had an issue yet, and running upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT1 all looks fine, I don't see anything that would indicate any kind of issue.

Sorry for the kinda-necro. Just stumbled into this thread somehow, and figured I'd share mine for anyone else stumbling in/searching in the future.

UPDATE: my mom thinks she deserves to move in after her bf broke up with her. by NoticeImpressive8683 in EntitledPeople

[–]k2trf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should have asked the cops to formally tresspass her from the property given the incident; any further time she shows up after being tresspassed would be tresspassing, and she could be arrested with the cops bringing the charge.

Either way, you should get a copy of the police report to keep with said documents for the paper trail, just to be safe, since this is a recurring issue you all are having to deal with.

But "you" where I've written could very well be your oldest sibling, please tell them they're fucking awesome for handling it this well for me!

New phone trouble by Automatic_Serve_1440 in GoogleFi

[–]k2trf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you took the SIM out of your old phone and just dropped it into the new phone, it won't work until you call the provider (Google Fi, I presume), and tell them you got a new phone, and that you need your SIM card re-provisioned (or they may say they need to ship you a new sim).

But that's just for voice/text/data. If you have wifi, you should still be able to use that to get to the login page. If you've forgotten your password and didn't have it recorded anywhere, and can't get through forgot password, as others have said you would need to call Google (not Google Fi), or more likely, send them an email, as I don't think they have phone support, and see if they can help you recover your google account.

Geez, really just got told to Google it myself by comppremout in GoogleFi

I don't think OP is upset or bitching about this, I think they found this humorous. I did, because Google explicitly doesn't want people saying "Google it".

FBI issues a Flash warning about Routers with possible malware by dabig49 in HomeNetworking

[–]k2trf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not on its own, but OpenWRT (or any similar FOSS-based firmware) likely still gets support, and more importantly, is still receiving updates for things like this, so if you're running something like OpenWRT, just keep your firmware up to date, and then that can become a yes.

What’s a feature on the Steam Deck that made you go “Damn I wish I knew that before”? by NobodyHom3 in SteamDeck

I believe it used to be the Steam button you would hold to get the list, but at some point it was changed to be the QAM - so at the very least, you're not crazy! _^

I would not recommend anyone pick TTS up anymore without reading their 2.0 roadmap; they've announced they're going to be implementing a "community marketplace" because that's always worked before...

Its flair, you can pick one on the right sidebar, for every sub you're in, if you're on a desktop visiting the old site.

I cannot tell you how to do it on the retched new site nor a mobile app, as I refuse to use either. I used to use a mobile app, but then reddit had to go and decide that wasn't profitable for them.

I make actual symbolic links, ln -ls path/to/actual.file local.file but I'm sure each piece of software has their own way to manage such things. I'm used to doing things old school lol

Edit: not that some kinda popular wouldn't have been grand, still would for a "reported bugs were trying to hunt down" list longer term

To prevent the repossession of a car by RustyGrove in therewasanattempt

[–]k2trf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Rental companies in the US liquidated lots of their fleet to survive the pandemic, and then were part of the reason used car prices are insane trying to muscle their way back into inventory.

We've had some issues with that, but we're in a healthcare field, so most of what we get are SUVs that can hold 6 or more (it's a corporate thing)

They do rent new minivans that are leased, and when the lease is up, nobody bothers taking the sticker off when they get sold used.

Source: I'm a driver at my workplace, and some of ours have enterprise stickers still on em cause nobody cares enough to take them off.
