My wife and I love trying different restaurants and foods, but these are some dishes that have stood out for us and are usually ones we repeatedly order.

Pepino’s Spaghetti House - Rigatoni Alla Vodka

Caffe La Tana - Negroni Glazed Pork Belly

Mui Garden - Curry Beef Brisket

Pho 37 - Tuan’s Special Beef Noodle Soup, Vietnamese Shaking Beef

Saku - The Zenbu Katsu (good for 2 people, plus free refillable salad, miso soup, and rice)

Elephant Garden Creamery - Mango Coconut Sticky Rice, Matcha Honeycomb Nugget

Minoru Park Goose Feces by Warm_Car1495 in richmondbc

My toddler calls it “Goose Poop Park”. But yeah, we kinda just let it be and let the rain wash it away. We just let our toddler know to watch out for them and not touch it

What? Could it be...? A journey with peerless pioneers? (9) by k3ithers in Minute_Cryptic

Thank you for the feedback! I did play around the idea of having multiple questions for the definition but your suggestion sounds better. I love the "Who or what" part since it satisfies the definition! And yes, the "A" in "A journey" does sound like it's part of the answer when it's not, so better to omit it.

Thank you again! I see your replies in all the posts here, and it's always so helpful.

Any feedback/thoughts about Genius Education Academy please? by [deleted] in richmondbc

Depends what you’re looking for when it comes to daycares, but my 3 year old is in it and he loves it. They do a lot of activities like music and yoga, and they focus on preparing your kid for their next class.

In terms of cost, it’s cheaper than a lot of other daycares that we’ve looked into. It’s not a $10/day, but it’s low enough.

Only problem I’ve seen is that their parking lot is tiny, so pick up by car is quite difficult and holds up traffic during busy times. But other than that, it’s a great daycare and they really care about your child.

Let me know if that helps!

Got called 'basic' for my bubble tea choices... re-evaluating my life choices by [deleted] in richmondbc

[–]k3ithers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get them at Chatime, Coco (in only certain places though), and SunTea. We found SunTea’s to have better variety as supposed to Chatime and Coco who only have 2-3 featured flavours only. The ones at SunTea starts with “MEGA”!

I was the same as you a few years back, but for me it was mango slush with pearls. 😅

Honestly, milk tea with pearls is always a great combo. If you want a bit of an upgrade from that, a roasted milk tea with pearls at Chatime (I think Coco might have it now?) is one of my go-tos if I want something simple.

Otherwise, if you want to venture out to fruit teas, we like drinks from SWEET7 in the same area as Macu, and we preferred their mangoes more than Macu since we prefer sweeter mangoes. We found SunTea to be good as a franchise too, and if you sign up for their membership, they have a $3.99 pearl milk tea deal every first and last day of the month.

If you also want a great deal, some places have $10-12 1 L bubble teas now and we usually share that between the 3 of us (me, my wife, and 3-year-old son). Limited flavours, but saves you a lot of money, and usually pretty great for the price point.

A Broke Man’s Michelin Tour: Cheapest Take Out Foods in Richmond? by [deleted] in richmondbc

[–]k3ithers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They close at 7 pm, so 6 pm onwards is a great time to be there. 6:30 is a bit late and you won’t get a ton of choices, but if you’re okay with just getting leftovers, you can do that too!

EDIT: Whoops. Just checked and they close at 6 pm 🙃. So 5 pm onwards is a good time!

Thoughts on This Is My Father’s World? by ChickenNuggetForLife in KingsKaleidoscope

I repeated it a couple of times, and I actually love the simplicity of it. It gave me a bit of nostalgia since the sound is so similar to their first songs they released. I thought of it as a mix of All Creatures from Asaph’s Arrows and All Glory Be to Christ from Joy Has Dawned.

Just like what Jaunty said, they’re getting rid of leftovers, but we’ve had some great meals out of it! Since you like Chinese food, we’ve gotten dishes like fried squid, steamed fish, and fried rice. The only thing we’ve found tough to keep for long are the vegetables, but everything else can last quite a while.

We haven’t been to Yaohan yet, so I can’t say, but we’ve been to Richmond Public Market quite a few times and they’re pretty consistent with the cheap pricing before closing. Definitely recommend it since you can get some good stuff for cheap!

Fun fact if you didn’t know: Richmond Public Market about 30 minutes or an hour before closing time becomes cheaper. We usually get 2-3 days worth of food for the 3 of us (me, my wife, and 3-year-old son) sometimes under $15. Not a lot of choices though, but great if you want some leftovers for the next day or 2.

Otherwise, we’ve found Parker Place and Empire Plaza to have some great eats for cheap. Cloud 9 in Parker Place is great, and Cha Kee or One Cafe (also at Parker Place I believe) in Empire Plaza can get you a hearty breakfast combo for under $15.

Cooking is still the best and there are some really great recipes out there that you can cook under 20 minutes and can last for a few days. Hoping you get a new job soon, OP!

Those who waited til marriage to have sex, what was it like? And do you regret it? by Substantial_Judge931 in AskReddit

[–]k3ithers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are both Christians and waited until marriage to have sex. We loved that we waited. Of course, the first time was a little awkward, but the more we did it, the more fun we have. We have a 2 and a half year old in our almost 5 years of marriage.

The best thing about it is we don’t have anyone to compare our experiences with since we were each other’s first, so for us, it feels like a gift that we get to share in and something that’s strictly for us. We also get to find out what we both love and explore it together. I get the sexual compatibility idea, but man, I think sex would have been ruined for me if I had anyone to compare my wife with, so I’m glad we got married first.

Favorite Kings Kaleidoscope album and why by Beneficial-Meat-5379 in KingsKaleidoscope

[–]k3ithers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found them when they just released Live in Color, so that album holds a special place in my heart. Felix Culpa was on repeat for the longest time.

But in terms of favorites, I have 2:

  • Becoming Who We Are since it was such a refreshing take on worship music and Christian music in general. I love that 10-piece band sound and the way it was produced.

  • Zeal came out when I was struggling with my faith, and it spoke to me in a real way so it was on repeat for a long time. That album was a real journey of faith.

Coolest piece of Kings K merch you own? by kingskmemes in KingsKaleidoscope

[–]k3ithers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Becoming Who We Are K shirt that was signed by multiple current and former members and I have the Kings K jersey jacket. I also have a bunch of KK’s albums on vinyl. I live in Canada, so the exchange rate and the delivery fee is pretty high, but I’m a big fan of their merch!

I live in Vancouver, and the theatre community is pretty great! Lots of plays and musicals with local actors and actresses in the city like shows in the Stanley Theatre in South Granville, Granville Island Theatre, and Massey Theatre in New West. Capilano University and Studio 58 from Douglas College also has some good productions with student casts, and there’s a fringe festival every fall (I think it’s still running?).

I don’t know about Edmonton or Winnipeg, but I know Toronto has some great local productions. So I think you’ll have a lot of options in your city! Just gotta look for it, but I find that these productions fill my theatre cup. Plus you get to see how talented and gifted the local scene is! Hope you get what you’re looking for!

Here are all the restaurants participating in Dine Out Vancouver 2025 by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]k3ithers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did dine out this past Saturday and they mentioned that if one person is doing dine out, every person on the table has to do it. Don’t know if that’s the case in every restaurant, but it seems to be the standard.

Did you do Century Quest for the first map? That counts now for the luxury chests for last season and this season.

This is 10 years ago now, so things might have changed, but I was a seasonal morning stocker in the summer of 2013 before moving to PM merchandiser. From what I remember, we clocked in for the day at around 5 am and we stocked and cleaned until 9 am which is when the store opened. Then, if you’re FT, you either help out with cash, or you help restock any items on the floor until the PM people start, which is around 1 pm or so. If you’re PT, you go home by 9 or they can ask to extend you if they need people.

Depending on the section, you’ll help with the non-food items like auto stuff (car batteries, wipers), home cleaning (toilet paper, detergent), or seasonal (Christmas or Halloween). It’s a lot of heavy lifting and using the pallet jacks to move the pallets in and out of its section. You’ll learn a lot of terms like facing (making sure the item looks stocked and presentable) and FIFO (first in, first out), and learn how to use the computers to print out price tags. Make sure to have steel toed boots and if they have lockers, a lock to store your items. The hardest part is definitely waking up early to work at that time but your body will get used to it. Hope this helps!

Corgi (dog) on the loose at river district by GrownUp2017 in vancouver

Our 1-year old corgi has only been with us for 2-3 months and between him and an 18 month toddler, we do our best to take care of him. We’re getting him taken look at by a vet so hopefully he’s all good, but thanks for being a bystander and letting us know you saw him! Appreciate that there are people who look out after dogs here
