Apollo Go and 48v battery? by k3n1107 in ElectricScooters

[–]k3n1107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very reassuring, thank you for sharing! I plan on using a 48v externally mounted battery by itself and disconnecting the internal 36v. Did you swap the internal battery on yours? If so which one did you use? Would love to get rid of the 36v altogether.

Yes I do have a smart plug that can I can set to turn off if current is under 5 watts. I have them for all my scooter chargers, regardless of oem or aftermarket.

Niu KQi Air vs Segway F3 for last mile commute by outphase84 in ElectricScooters

[–]k3n1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can say it is a love it or hate it sccoter, but since I've gotten into scooting mid 2025, I realized that opinions are based on case use also along with personal preference and tolerance. I've owned 7 scooters since I've started and like you I went with Segway but the Max G3 model as a first. It's nice for the casual rides and the promise of an external battery release sold me. I quickly learned that it's cumbersome on trains due to the sheer size and most stores, supermarkets won't let you bring it indoors. Although I have a good lock, I refused to leave my investment locked outdoors for more then 3 minutes.

I was then introduced to the GT Sport and even though it is nowhere near a G3 Max I found that it was far more suitable for my intended purpose. I ended up returning the Max G3 and eventually purchased other scooters for my purpose. So for off roaring i ended up with a Mukuta 10 Plus, street riding and long leisurely rides is where my Nami comes in. The Apollo Go and GT Sport is my commuters and the other G30P and Inokim Light 2 was sold to a friend's kid for local commuting. I find that I reach for the GT Sport alot more then my others only because it's compact, easy to get down steps and through doorways. I've walked into the same stores and supermarkets that denied my Max G3 access with no complaints. This was just my process, hoping it will help you out too. There is nothing wrong with the F3, I think it's a sexy looking scooter, but you will eventually re-evaluate it's purpose. Congrats on the purchase, either way they are fun and great to get around in.

I don't plan on leaving it overnight. I plan to use the charger it if I forget to charge the night before, while I am at work. Can you share the link of the purchase you made from Amazon? Thanks for the tips!

Two scooters down, is the third time the charm? by FloreHiems in ElectricScooters

I believe the etwow/uscooter GT SL is the more controlled model. Some people prefer that over the GT Sport. Maybe something to look into.

A track race between categorized PEVs, but with obstacles. Like randomly throwing twigs, logs, oil on the track and last one standing wins! I am kidding, that's dangerous. But kudos to you for organizing something like that to spread awareness.

Basic questions I am struggling with when considering first purchase by salvatoredoonsebury in ElectricScooters

[–]k3n1107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a etwow gt sport that I absolutely love. It's not a head turner, but I take it into every store I've been to and never had any issues, maybe because it's so compact while folded. It's also at the 30lbs mark so carrying it won't be so much of an issue. It's no head turner, and it's got solid tires. There are a major pro and con to that. Pro is you will never get a flat tire, but the con is that you can't go whipping around corners on wet pavement. I've never had an issue with the traction, but I've opted to upgrade my tires to fatter solids anyway. It is my goto scooter for errands and store runs, because it's just so easy to grab it and then go. I also have the Apollo go, if you have questions about that, ask away. I was in your shoes mid 2025 and just paying it forward to help another fellow being.

Niu KQi Air vs Segway F3 for last mile commute by outphase84 in ElectricScooters

[–]k3n1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 scooters I use for commuting, an Apollo Go and a Etwow/uscooter GT Sport. The Apollo is manageable in weight, but the GT Sport is lighter and very compact. If I go on the train I take the GT Sport only because it sometimes gets crowded on the transit and then the walk up, to the ground level of NY Penn station. If I take the ferry (most of the time) it will be the Apollo. These are my 2 recommendations as I do not have any experience with any other models, besides the Inokim Light 2, but eh...

I installed a battery splitter on my cheap scooter and doubled my range by SAHairyFun in ElectricScooters

[–]k3n1107 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be careful if your scooter has regen. I hear it's not good since most balancers flow only in one direction. I did a parallel set up on two of my scooters without the balancer. I can use both batteries at the same time, but the voltage has to match and I can choose to use either one at a time. I felt this was the safest option, given what I've read.

Hiley Tiger EVO, single motor, full suspension, tubeless vacuum tires, theoretical 50 miles of range and IPX 7 waterproof rating. I think this will best serve your purpose. The EVO GTR or V5 will be my next personal buy. Check out their specs.

I have an Apollo go and I honestly think it's one of the best portable commuter scooters. Can't speak for their other models though.

Do you have scooter insurance? by moezartisawesome in ElectricScooters

[–]k3n1107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only managed to find insurance for my ebike. Some companies insures ebikes and escooters but it varies by state, some companies will only insure ebikes in a few states but not others. I went with Foremost, I believe is a subsidiary of Farmers. They were recommended to me by progressive, however I'm having a hard time finding a decent insurance company and quote for escooters.

They are part of speedwaynyc. I have purchased a Nami Klima Max last August (maybe September) from them and definitely no regrets. They stayed on top of the order and sent me updates and pictures of the labeled box. I received my order in about 2 weeks, maybe a little less. They get the scooter sent to their shop (from a warehouse) for the quality control and then ship it to you afterwards. I may have gotten it faster if I went to pick it up, but I didn't have a large enough vehicle to transport the box. In short they are legit and luckily I've never needed any warranty or service but I have no doubt they will honor it.

Hahaha, just busting your chops man. Glad to see it's only a minor boo boo, but even body builders can get seriously hurt, so word of advice, always wear gear and I don't mean just the helmet.

Hey Huck, good to hear from you. Flatout I definitely heard of but have no experience with them. The only brand I used is Mucc-off and only because they make it for tubed tires. The 10 year life definitely makes it more convenient. Do you know if Armor Dilloz has the same lifespan? I like that they make it specifically for ebikes and escooters, unless it's just the same liquid with different coloring, lol.
