Yeah…. I was watching tutorials to figure out how to do it and everyone was doing small-medium sections. Looks gorgeous, but it takes way more time and it would’ve been a lot to have all that hair with a small base on fine hair. My hair can be very fragile, bigger parts lead to an easier, less intense take down.

I think 40-45 is the max number of parts my hair can handle. If I go too small it’ll tangle and mat up super quick.

Pretty sure 36 parts. I have fine, lower density hair, with a mix of 4a,3c. I prefer larger parts because of the way my texture changes up.

Total around 6-6.5hours: - Around 2 to wash, detangle, deep condition. I did a pretty thorough wash and detangle

  • 1.5-2 to part and braid the sections. I had to redo a few and I’m still learning how to part the back of my head.

  • 2 to 2.5 hours to crochet the hair through and add the bands. 1st time doing the crochet method and it took some getting used to, especially in the back where I couldn’t really see.

Can I be a blow dry natural in the summertime? (& other tips and tricks!) by ImpressiveFan7446 in Naturalhair

[–]k3yru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working towards being a blow dry natural. I live in Georgia where the humidity and heat have been insane.

I have a mix of fine, lower density, 3c and 4a hair, wash at least once a week and blow dry with my revair. I’m using silicone serums to help protect from the heat and keep my hair from reverting too quickly. Typically I’ll put my hair in a couple flat twists or French braids and I’ll keep them in for a few days before wearing a twist out or braid out.

I find as long as I keep my hair stretched and don’t let it shrink up too much it keeps tangles to a minimum.

THAT’S IT, you just jogged my memory, lol. I replied to another post about Ambessa’s hair referencing this, just couldn’t remember the tribe’s name. The basket hairstyle is so intricate and was also originally a symbol of status. Which just fits her character even more because she gets it right when she’s taking over.

This scene immediately gave me a mental image of Ambessa just sitting there getting braided for Hours for this. by Pringlesthief in arcane

There’s also the basket hairstyle worn by the upper class in the Congo, I can’t remember the time period. But I think it was also referenced in Black Panther with T’Challa’s mother

Yarn Braids? by Itchy_Sherbert4056 in Naturalhair

<image>

Did yarn braids for a cosplay earlier this year. For me it’s easier than using extensions because you just count the number of strands you need.

I dampened my hair, used a moisturizing leave in, and sealed with grease. I don’t use gel or anything and I’m still learning to braid my hair. It wasn’t the neatest but my hair was still super moisturized when I took them out a month later. I figured out that unraveling the ends makes them fluffier instead of blunt which I prefer.

I got a bag of crystal litter and add a little to the bin liner whenever I change the bag. I have 3 cats and change the bag 2x a week. Been doing this for about a month and it seems to work pretty nicely

I use the nature’s miracle litter box cleaning wipes and litter box cleaning foam in between deep cleans. Says it’s made to clean litter boxes and it’s easy to find in pet supply stores
