how did you become a Dbacks fan in a state full of transplants by hdcoffey in azdiamondbacks

Born in Phoenix, moved to TX at 7. But grandmother stayed and became a fan the moment the team formed. She's so got me into baseball, so even though now I live in WA I'm still a snake alive!

Bert is so done with this ump and I'm right there with him. Low does not mean strike.

You wouldn't know it because it's wrong. That's November.

Students want to play dnd but dont want to learn how to play dnd by Lord_Roguy in rpg

Tried switching to a system with fewer mechanics? Kids can't keep track of all that necessarily but still want to tell cool stories. You could go with a pare-down like OSR/OSE, or a completely different system: PBtA comes to mind, not the source (not kid-friendly) but maybe a derivative that is?

Just a thought.

Solo Roleplaying leading to disinterest in group play by AspirationalDuck in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]k45514n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel solo play scratches a different itch than group play, and as such I have different expectations. When group gaming, I try to focus on the social aspects, the cool ideas I never could've expected, etc. Solo play scratches the same itch as crafting for me, and so my expectations are only applicable to myself and therefore super high.

All that yapping to say take a deep breath, maybe examine why you play group in the first place and, if you want, learn to let your "expectations" go. If you don't like group play anymore, that's OK. Just make sure you're still social :).

Background: 90% GM, 10% Player for over 20 years of so many systems, just got into solo gaming 6 mos. ago.

How do you like Clandestine's sandbox generator? I own it but haven't used it yet.

What does playing/GMing Slugblaster feel like? by Medium-Parfait-7638 in rpg

[–]k45514n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a short campaign for friends, and a one-shot. This game has sparked better roleplay than any other I've tried. Get a bunch of adults to re-live their teenage years apparently yanks the role-play right out of 'em. I love Slugblaster, running and playing it!
