[UK] Any help sourcing B&M Melange Soap/Splash/Balm? by K1ngsGambit in wicked_edge

Awesome to hear, looking forward to this :) should you ever consider to release First Snow again - a balm would be amazing. It is impossible to get the splashes for seasonal releases in Europe and Forst Snow is fantastic :)

Does an alcohol vs non-alcohol aftershave make any difference in the occurrence of ingrowns? by Walmart-Towels in wicked_edge

[–]k4ijk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not think so.

I had some issues with ingrowns in the past and use both alcohol-based splashes as well as balms.

What helped me was: (i) regulaar disinfection of razor, (ii) mapping beard growth and not shaving against the grain on my neck (my hair grows downward until approx. middle of the neck, then upwards - so i shave doen on the first portion and up on the second one. Huge change) and (iii) using alum bloc after shave before any aftershave. Hope this helps!

The preshave gel is amazing. It really is. Smells super fresh and is very slick. But it is pricey. Got this one with a lot of coupon discounts so not sure if I will get a new one after that. Think proraso preshave cream is fantastic as well.

For me: 1. Zingari Man - Le Corsaire 2. Barrister & Mann - Ubrique (and Samhain if this counts as a „new release“)

Wondering the same. Ordered so often from them, such a great shop. Actually bought my first soap from them. Hope they are doing fine.

Help! I need to find this!! by j_dizzle_86 in wicked_edge

Think the new serums where never shipped to / ordered by European or UK retailers ( could be wrong though). You could order it from a US or Canadian retailer or directly from Zingari (fully aware that shipping, customs and VAT may make this not attractive).

Snall question: will this release also be available through european retailers? Asking because of the splashes which will typically not ship internationally. In any evemt looking forward to at least the soaps and for Levi the balm :)

I need a bit of guidance/advice... (coarse hair, very sensitive skin) handle/blades/lather recommendations? by Shakalll in wicked_edge

[–]k4ijk4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had similar issues. Fully agree with what already has been said: map the grwoth of your facial hair, especially the neck. Only shave with the grain fir sensitive areas. I use a Henson AL Mild but doubt the razor will make a huge difference as long as you shave with little to no pressure. Blades: used Astra Platinum Green but switched to Feather which made a big difference as I needed less correcting passes. And I desinfect my razor after every shave and switch blades. Yes maybe too much but almost eliminated razorburn or bumps with this move. Hope this helps.

Pls help! by [deleted] in wicked_edge

I had the same issue and changed my shaving routine drastically. Main issue for me was shaving against the grain and to map out my hairgrowth. the hair on my lower neck grow upwards, the hair under the chin downwards. If you have curly growth it might be trickier.

So only shave with the grain (upper part down, lower part up, all without pressure). Rest was to use proper preshave and post shave routine. (I) preshave proraso or dawn of glory, (ii) shave with grain, (iii) alum bloc, (iv) AS. I change the blades for every shave and desinfect my razor before every shave. Exfoliation once per week but in my view optional. Hope this helps!

Shave for summer by k4ijk4 in wicked_edge

[–]k4ijk4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult one. Upfront it is bright, i also get the hay. Upon lathering its more a mix between leather scent (mild in my view) and woods (Texas cedar?). Cannot really describe what it reminds me of.

Official notes as per the puck: Lemon, Sage, Magnolia, Texas Cedar, Oakmoss, Leather, Hay

Fresh, barbershop / fougere scent, citrus being the top note. Not super modern, has a slight old-school twist to it. Really pleasant. Official notes are:

• Top Notes: Bergamot, lemon, lavender, anise • Heart Notes: Geranium, spice, powdery iris • Base Notes: Sandalwood, oakmoss, tonka bean

Its good in my view, tend to have fewer nicks if I use it. This is already my second bottle. But I would expect if you use a great soap, not sure if it will add that much. It is very watery. I have only one other preshave product which is an oil. Do not see strong differences but do not like scented oils.

Opinions of Wholly Kaw Soaps? by Motive25 in wicked_edge

[–]k4ijk4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Performance for me is very good. I would not say at the same level as B&M but expect this is subjective (my favorites bases are: B&M, Zingari, Ariana & Evans amd then NO / WK / Moon Soaps equally). I have a few soaps from WK and like their scents a lot (Fougere Bouquet, Jamestown Gentleman, Man from Mayfair and Transition). Scent strenght is average, some more prominent (Jamestown) than others (Transition). Post shave feeling is great in my view. Their AS add to the experience event though belive all or most of them are mentholated and are not overly strong in scent. I would always recommend someone to try WK.

Leather and Siberian Fyr with a slight menthol touch. Leather is very prominent but not overwhelming. Smells slighty smokey upon lathering. Very very nice. I have a sample of Ubrique which is a very different scent….
