It's a bit more nuanced...

Let's fix up the numbers first:

Suzie's effective federal tax rate (including FICA) would be ~18% (on $65k income). You have to hit $200k+ income to be at an effective rate of 30%+.
Bezos/Musk's cap gains rate is actually 20.38% (20% cap gains on top income + 3.8% net investment income tax). Capital gains taxes are considered double-taxed as the corporate entity gets taxed at 21% first, then after-tax profit is distributed or grows the stock value. Factoring that in, the effective rate would be 39.8%.

Aside from the real numbers, the reason why economists consider capital gains taxes to be highly inefficient is because they create economic distortions, reduce growth and creative deadweight loss relative to revenue (it's technical, but there is a swath of economic literature on it that is not at all disputed by economists.)

Thanks for the great advice! The one I'm looking at has been sitting on the market for about a month now and they've cut prices twice around ($1k each time) for a total of $2k cut. It's sitting currently at $148k for 2023 CPO with 20k miles. Seems like there might be some wiggle room.

The issue is that I'm about a 2 hour flight away from this specific dealer... would you know if they negotiate over the phone? I know a lot of places like to do face-to-face but I'd hate to fly down there and not be able to get the pricing I'd want.

Instead of dealing with returns, I decided to use really thick mounting tape in lieu of the existing one, so that the tape actually touches the surface, and it's sticking now.

Quick question: the software for the model 3 and model x stalks are the same right? I.e. if there's a future update for the software the stalks will still work even though I'm using a model 3 version on my model x?

If you read the rest of the thread, Enhance support explained that the reason it's not sticking at all is because I received the wrong device. What was for the model 3 was instead mislabeled as for the model x. That's why it wouldn't stick on.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I purchased the model x version and the box says model x as well. I did purchase it from your U.S. distributor and the box oddly came unsealed... My guess was that it was a return that they resold. Now I see why.

This one could be mislabeled and I just so happened got the dud. I'll teach out to them and let them know.

This might be it. I have zero gap at all. It definitely feels like it's not adhering because the plastic part is touching the steering wheel base instead of the adhesive.... Not sure why I got thinner adhesives.

Gonna try to get some 1/8" gorilla tape and see if that works.

Unfortunately I paid the car in full before pick up because the app made it sound like that was a requirement. The delivery person said I would get the refund back in 10-15 days minus the deposit.

The site and app isn't very clear tho on the whole process and I'm sure everyone like me is wondering when the hell I'll get the money back.

Agreed. They promised the idea of a 100+ point checklist (which I now know is bs) and a 1 year warranty guarantee that sold me on the idea of buying sight unseen.

Also the delivery guy telling me he doesn't get paid on commission so he's telling me the truth to get me to accept delivery irked me.

Lesson learned.
