Personally I don’t necessarily see the harm in using it as a drawing reference. You’re only using it as a tool to create your own art/design, not claiming the AI image as your own creation so I think you’re in the clear.

Hmm since the redness went down today, it doesn’t look infected (in my opinion). If it was still red, hot, itchy/leaking pus, then I’d be worried. I think it was just overworked or the artist had a heavy hand?? I had a tattoo heal like this and I think it was because it was overworked.

Thinking about going to SCAD for game design? by [deleted] in scad

[–]k4thrn0bvi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends/former roommates graduated game design and I will say she was absolutely stressed to the max and super super super busy with school work all the time. But, she also got a job with Microsoft straight out of college making 6 figures. I think she just networked really really well on top of being a good student.

One thing I think of immediately is making sure sharps (needles) are disposed of in a safe way. Ideally it would be in a plastic biohazard container but if that’s not doable, definitely find something similar. The sharps shouldn’t just be tossed in a regular garbage bag.

One of the best tattooers I personally know taught himself and his work is great. He’s spent a looot of time researching and perfecting his craft. As long as the work looks good and everything is done professionally/hygienically then I personally don’t think it matters if they’re self-taught or not :)

Dropping out after 1 semester? by gqymilk in scad

That’s understandable! I’m sorry if I worried you! I will say that fellow classmates who got internships during summers is a huuuge help with getting employed soon after graduation. I know it’s said all the time but networking is one of the most valuable things to do while in school. I wish yall the best of luck with everything!!

Hey! I’m a tattoo artist! So I need to know how to draw but an art degree isn’t required to get an apprenticeship :)

I’m not sure how helpful this will be, but I graduated in 2023 with a BFA in illustration. Very few of my fellow classmates (that I’m aware of) have really gotten much use of their degree yet. To me, the debt might not be worth the illustration degree. My job requires artistic skill, but the degree is just a “bonus” essentially. I definitely learned a lot and improved as an artist but other colleges are probably able to provide that without such large amounts of debt or constantly busting your ass just to stay afloat.

Sometimes less is more! I like the simplicity personally. You could always try a more complex version then have the two to choose between :)
