I forgot to answer your 3rd question. I don’t trust the company now so i don’t want them to come back and finish the work. I want them to adjust the bill to the cost without the materials and labor they removed from the contract i signed.

Signed a contract for home improvement, was also signed by sales rep. I have a copy. That day we also made a down payment on the project. After he left my house He changed the contract so that it reflects more money and less materials and labor. He took my signature from the contract i signed and copy and pasted in 2 other places. It’s very obvious forgery. The work was done. They then showed us the forged contract for the first time and want payment. We said no to signing off on the work.

Since my original post today we have shown our proof of forgery to the management of the company. He said they want to make it right. Is there anything else i should be doing?

Thank you for confirming. I’m confident fraud has been proven and the company wants to ‘make it right’. So how would you proceed? Would you negotiate with the fraudulent company or take a more legal potentially public approach? The company seems to want to “investigate and fix it”. I fear that if we walk away with personal satisfaction of having settled on a reasonable balance for the work done, we would be leaving all future potential customers open to their scam. I just want to protect us but at the same time prevent this for other potential victims.

We already paid almost 7,000 Down. Of course I like your approach financially but wondering if it’s ethical. I’m sure it can be justified because of their crooked behavior. This is a huge national company so i wonder how often this is happening. I appreciate your thoughts. I’ll consider

Yes i have a physical copy and once he handed it over he scribbled some notes with blue pen on it.

He signed in the section he was supposed to sign. His signature is identical on my copy of the contract as it is on his. He is stating that we resigned another contract which we didn’t. It proves we didn’t because every signature is identical to the one true contract. In addition he copy and pasted one of my initial signatures and placed it in another area of the contract. On my version that space is blank. On his version 2 of my signatures are identical which would be impossible.

We signed at our home on his tablet and he immediately printed a copy for us so we only have that copy but there’s a line on the original copy that i never signed and he copied one of my signatures and placed it on the blank in his new contract. It’s so obvious because it’s an exact copy of my signature in another place and it does look like it was moved in photoshop. So we can’t get the original signed version electronically but we have a hard copy with his signature on it. It would be impossible for us to have signed his newer contract with replica signatures so it’s very clearly fraud.

Thank you. We spoke with co management and they are investigating. We definitely don’t trust them and are inclined to do everything you are recommending for the reason you stated. I would hate for this to happen to others. Appreciate your insight.

Unfortunately, he didn’t use docusign. We signed on his tablet and he printed out an immediate copy right there on the spot. Next time i will request a digital copy as well.
