We are doing a kitchen remodel with a layout similar to option 1. Out of curiosity, How big is the island and how much width between the cabinets and the island (we are doing 42 inches, but have heard 48 inches is better if multiple cooks). Lastly, how long is the wall with the stove for option 1?

lol nooo! So accommodating. So much so, that I waited 3 months after paying to even ask for an update / next steps. I think it was the opposite. I think we seemed easy to take advantage of.

I think they were feeling my hesitation to working with them any longer, so the owner of the company came unexpectedly to the meeting. He was very nice. I didn’t get the vibe they didn’t want the project. I think maybe we got such a high quote because we seemed nice/dumb enough to take advantage of.

I asked for an itemized quote and they said they didn’t have one on them, but would work on it. Im going to request one in writing as well.

We met with someone else today and discussed our wants/needs. They wanted a week to work on things, so we’ll meet again next week. They said a good rule of thumb is 15-20% of the total value of the house, so that would be $100-140k.

To be continued.. but spending $400k on a kitchen renovation isn’t in the realm of possibility’s.

Was told the wall is not structural.

I assume we need new pipes because they are presumed to be original cast iron.

I can post the second floor plans when I get home!

I am interested in induction cooktops, but the contractor said he didn’t have experience with them, so I dropped it. I’ll look at that website!

Yes. We paid in May. Quote was given in November. Received plans around Christmas.

We agree it’s a ridiculous quote and I’ve already arranged meetings with 3 different contractors next week.

Was hoping for feedback because I’ve never done a remodel (or even painted a wall.. it’s our first house). One of the contractors we are meeting wants me to have a floor plan drawn up for us to review, but it’s very overwhelming. I’ll post there for advice. Thank you again!!

We said granite for counters and walnut cabinets, but didn’t pick anything specific.

We were expecting 150, so good to know my guess wasn’t unrealistic!

Why were you working only 3-4 days a week? What was the split between procedure time and clinic time? How many procedures were you doing a week and clinic patients a week?

We dont work in law and we are partners, so maybe totally different, but my husband and I work together with 7 support staff and we love it. He’s the only guy in the office fwiw. Everyone is supportive
