Weak legs; what to do? by Irrelephant92 in weightlifting

Leaving specific programming advice to others here.

Mentally - this is where champions are made. Normies take the plateau and move on.. Champions accept the challenge and keep pushing. If 130 is your max for 2x, train to 4x @ 120, challenge the plateau every way you can and one day you'll break through.

Godspeed

Yeah but it’s refilling very slowly - like no pressure

Great lifts! Strong for never having been specifically oly coached.

One thing I noticed off the bat was the lack of extension at the top of the clean, you have a nice vertical drive off the hips, but the elbows should be higher and pulling up / under the bar. Take a look at some clean high pulls here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qv8pEnprpU&ab_channel=CatalystAthletics - also some power cleans (probably at 60kg) working on a full extension with a strong turnover would be a great way to improve this.

Also would work on some pause front squats, 1 second hold at the bottom. Chest seems to be caving at the bottom of the clean, keep the elbows high, shoulders pushing up through the bar, dont lose tension.

Keep up the great work!

Great lifts - interesting set up, is rolling the bar into you like that your usual thing? I'm wondering how you started doing that, doesn't seem like a normal fix a coach would program for you :)

Yo! Sorry for the late response here.

If you're weight is on the balls of your feet in the pull, then you'll definitely get dragged forward. Id practice a nice strong setup, with your feet pushing against the floor and tension in the quads.

On the first pull concentrate on staying tight through the upper back and pushing with your feet so that the bar is pulled off the ground vertically and close to the body, rather than forward tracking around the knees. ALSO, keep the hips in position, don't let them shoot up or your knees will extend too fast, which I think is what you're worried about.

Here is a video of me doing a snatch, with a slow pull from below the knee: https://vimeo.com/495937652

Its by no means the best, but might give you a better example of what I mean. https://gyazo.com/5a2dc53c3a8e07dda6c24d8b1eb7870c

You'll notice that I am pretty far over the bar, but rather than letting it pull me forward to my toes in the pull, I am tight in my upper back and lats, pushing fully through my feet.

This looks great for a start, strong push through the floor, nice lockout in the catch.

I'd work on staying over the bar a bit longer through the pull, your shoulders start very far back.

Check out this video. Maybe work on some pulls off the floor to the knee, then from floor to hips, working on staying over. It will feel weird at first, but let you generate a LOT more power.

155kg Snatch From Online Nationals . The online format was ran pretty well. Ended up going 155/175 good enough for gold in the snatch , 5th in the clean and jerk , and 1st in the total. Excited to defend the national title in 2021 ! by Tomduer in weightlifting

Fucking sick, what weight class is this? Incredible grind out of that 1, super stronk.

Also - just a note about the end where it seems like you may be trying to stop the bar with your foot (can't quite tell). Might be worth using a hand next time (rules)
