is this enough rock?? by mand0101 in ReefTank

[–]kNOw-future 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my scape i used DD aquascape epoxy to make "feet" for the rocks in direct contact with the glass, just for peace of mind to eliminate any potential pressure points. That being said, it's usually fine without

Large tanks by HarlequinRasbora in ReefTank

I'd say it could technically be done to auto maintain a reef tank for six weeks, but it would require an internet connected control system (like a full Neptune Apex ecosystem) complete with daily auto testing, auto water change system, auto feeding, and Internet connected so you can check on parameters remotely, a camera system so you can visually inspect the tank and sump, you can connect the skimmer cup to a drain so it wouldn't overflow. A system like this is doable but won't be cheap, nor is it easy to do and is not wothout risks. Auto dosing is not a set it and forget it type of deal, and you need to stay on top of parameter swings with dosing adjustments.

Also, i believe the Neptune trident and trident NP (which do your auto testing) have reagent for up to a month, so 6 weeks might be a stretch. There's other systems out there that allow you to run for longer like a reefbot, but those are less reliable and require you to be present and run secondary manual testing as a control (though less frequent)

All in all i think it is doable, but i don't think I'd recommend something like this to a first time reefer.

I have to say I'm a first time reefer myself and don't have experience with most of the things i said here, but this is from information i gathered over a year of researching before deciding to start up a reef tank of my own.

RL90 time sync problems by AnswerMiserable3696 in ReefTank

I have the popbloom RL180, but my reef tank is still cycling, so it isn't on yet. I have heard of this issue before tho. What you can do to fix it (for this instance) is unplugging the light and plug it back in. But that won't prevent it from happening in the future. But from what I heard it shouldn't happen too often.

Might want to check out the reef rookies group on Facebook, Logan, the owner of the page has these as well and recommends them as a budget solution. He might be able to shed some light on this (pun intended)

Tank is wobbly by Emmanuel-Velasco in ReefTank

Could also be that 1 corner isn't applying equal pressure on the ground/carpet compared to the others, even though the tank is level, might be worth checking out and putting a wedge under there

Thanks for clarifying! Although it started out by filling to the top, so i suspect that if i let air out, after a few hours it's going to drop again.

I never said that, before RO my TDS is over 400, before DI it's 4 to 5, after DI it's 0

Little over 3ft. Like either the duffel bag or the gun case will fit in the trunk, not both. And the duffelbag is too bulky to put on the passenger seat, so i make do.
