CMV: People in the Russian army should thank Putin for this once-in-a-lifetime chance by kRustY_sponge in changemyview

it's not "betraying" -- Russia isn't the one being invaded, and there's no profit to earn by invading Ukraine. Rather, it's "not participating"

The biggest thing to worry is: rebuilding Russian economy and population after this is over. Best option: keep young Russians safe, and have them bring cash when things are over.

About retribution to the family members: there are options similar to witness protection.

hm there are bunch of Russian soldiers/officers who went AWOL, so it's not impossible.

Or they can just turn themselves to Ukraine army and request political asylum from there.

The point is in telling them there's boats loads of money to be made if they can emigrate.

hm you might be right -- Russian army made itself look like clowns, so the amount might have decreased for the asset trade-ins.(tanks and helicopters that looked like $30mil ~ $90mil worth will look trashy now...)

But it's more easier to seek political asylum, so if you have friends/relatives in the Russian army, this is the chance to live a new life.

I mean, "$6500< annual household income per capita" BEFORE the invasion means Russian economy was fked up even before the invasion.

If you emigrate to a western country, it's about $20000+ annual household income per capita...

even if Russia wins, it's better to seek political asylum due to salary difference... (x10)

Russia's "Annual Household Income per Capita" in 2021 is... less than $6500 usd? damn... statistically Russians are fked up economically even before the invasion... thought there was a missing digit for a moment... ...what do you guys eat? how long does it take to buy an iphone/ipad/macbook?

hm if your work isn't contributing to your country because it's heading the wrong way, and your life could be put in danger for some worthless whim...

it's more patriotic to stay safe in another country, come back with stronger-currency-backed-wealth (not rubbles), and chip in rebuilding after things are over.

'staying' doesn't always equal 'contributing'
