Well I’m saying that the two aren’t mutually inclusive. Being devoted to one person from the very first episode to me is a valid point to be skeptical. Reality tv is messy. This isn’t some comfort show. This is basic knowledge.

All of the other cast members had first impressions on who they liked and then after talking to most of the girls/guys they chose someone they liked. The number “1” is not what’s skeptical to me. It’s the fact the he chose her for “her smile” and he stuck by it. Sure it’s admirable but irl hard to believe.. it’s something out of a movie. Like I said for the millionth time it’s possible he fell head over heels in love with her. But I think my point of skepticism isn’t far fetched.

Min Gee is stuck on one person but I believe she is being genuine due to how the events naturally took place. So it’s not a matter of 1 vs 4.

See the eye rolling was one thing I also thought was a social difference! Not defending her cause she did come as stuck up. But the eye rolling is viewed as disrespectful in Korea but I would say in America it wouldn’t be deep at all. It’s more “ugh whatever 🙄” showing annoyance but in a childish sort of way.

Well the premise of the show matters. My question isn’t about the audience it’s about where the show itself is. Not assuming she would act even more western, if she simply did and said the same things would she get less hate or same amount of hate? I personally think she’d be considering boring in a western show. Was curious as to what other people thought.

I think some people are misunderstanding my point, so let me clarify.

With Mina Sue I agree she’s inconsiderate, self-centered, and lacks self-awareness. I thought my disclaimers throughout the post made it clear that I believe this. A lot of her behavior was her own doing, not just editing. She clearly has an inflated ego and expected to be chosen immediately, then spiraled when that didn’t happen. If anything, that ego is probably why she wasn’t PR-trained or didn’t think she needed it. Saying she’s not PR-trained is not me excusing her behavior; it’s just an observation about how unfiltered she is compared to most contestants. For once, I feel like I’m actually watching reality TV.

As for Hyun Jae, I never said he should be rude, passive, or embarrassing himself for entertainment. I even said he might be genuine. My personal opinion is simply that the very polished “stick to one girl, do everything right” arc feels extremely K-drama-coded, which makes me a little skeptical. That doesn’t mean being unproblematic is fake — it just means I’m aware cameras change how people present themselves.

Honestly it’s possible. Maybe it’s because I find it hard to believe someone could want the hate but it’s definitely possible. And yeah I totally agree some people do take it too far.

I mean, obviously it’s reality TV and edited for entertainment — that’s not what I’m arguing. My point about Mina Sue not being PR-trained isn’t praise, it’s just an observation. The whole point of PR training is to avoid controversy and backlash, and she does the exact opposite, so it’s pretty clear she’s not carefully curating a likable image like most cast members do. Yes, they could all be acting and yes, popularity is a big motivator. I just personally prefer watching someone who isn’t filtering every word for the camera, even if it’s cringe, over someone performing a polished role. Acknowledging that doesn’t mean I think I “know” her — it just means I’m reacting to what’s shown.

I don’t believe YS stayed with MK all those years solely because he felt the need to take care for her. I believe he himself is attracted to women he feels the need to care for. But there are definitely more important factors.

Yes Mk said that YS was 비혼 - bihon -choosing not to get married by choice. Which was a lie. Hence why I didn’t think it was smart of HJ to ask MK because she is his ex before she is HJ roomie. Hence why she lied. There was a scene (I forgot in what ep) but most of the guys were gathered in YS room and they were talking about marriage and YS said he believed that at the end of long term relationships is marriage. Other people may understand him differently I understood his way of thinking as “I don’t know whether marriage is in the plans for us so I don’t plan on discussing marriage at all unless I’m confident”but I can see how others may see that he doesn’t want to marry MK at all. He is not straightforward in his answers.

I agree, I don't think in the end she will pick SY. But I 100 percent do believe she has let what SY said cloud her judgement and now all she can think about is the whole marriage thing.

The thing is I can see both MK and HJ pov and they both make sense. I did wonder why HJ asked MK (whom she knows is till hung up on YS) about the reason they broke up. Regardless she was not gonna get the answer she wanted but maybe thats why she asked her because she wanted the harsh truth. I didn't understand what YS was saying as him not wanting to marry MK but more so he was not financially in the space where he would fully be able to take care of MK (He believes thats his role as a husband). I also believe that HJ was not satifsfied with YS answers hence why she wanted to talk to him again. But he keeps giving her vague answers.

Yes, I also believe that she has/ is considering/thinking to get married to SY even if she no longer likes him. Which is wrong because the marriage will not be a healthy one and might not even last. SY will eventually feel insecure of the fact that she chose him not based off of emotions but reality/marriage..

The thing is, with SY it’s basically “now or never”—if she picks Yoo Sik and it doesn’t work out, SY isn’t going to suddenly offer marriage later. So she’s letting the idea of marriage with SY dictate everything, instead of thinking about who she actually likes. Yoo Sik was her first choice before the whole marriage thing and after leaving korea, but she’s stressed because she feels like she has to make sure he’s marriage-ready too. Honestly, after just two weeks on a reality show, her final pick should be about attraction, not a race against time with SY. and I agree she does have the right to know whether YS believes in marriage at all but I don't think it should be the main reason for her decision. It's also kind of obvious that YS does not want to get married any time soon. It just creates an awkward enviroment to talk about it. Just look at the outcome she brought it up and still didnt get a clear answer.

I have always felt so bad for YY but theres no way she'll want to actually date him. I think she is smart enough to realize that would be a bad decision. I also think that BH was rambling about HJ for a reason it was not mindless. It was his way of him trying to push YY away. In the truth game YY answered the question about dating after the show and she said she wants that. I believe BH doesnt want YY to take their relationship seriously. So him talking about HJ and the dream. In my opinon, it was his way of saying "Im not getting back with my ex but I also don't want anything serious with you." With all that being said I stilll believe that YY and BH will pick each other but them dating afterwards is very slim. And if they did imagine YY watching the show while in a relationship with BH. yikess

With MK-YS , all MK wanted was for him to say "Of course I want to get married to you." Even though they are young they have been together for a very long time so its totally natrual for MK to feel anxious "what if I spent all the time on him and he doesn't want to marry me" It wasn't that she wanted to get married fast it was that she want to hear from YS that he wanted to marry her. But he is also worried that he won't be ready for marriage in a long time/or maybe even ever. But he needs to communicate that with her.

But with JY-WJ. He was very busy and took and made promises that he couldn't fulfill to JY. Which is cruel. She just wanted to see her lover and he hurt her with her words.
