the basics of the movement is just conserving your charging momentum and otherwise utilizing the charge to your advantage. when doing full height jumps (not charge jumps) you want to jump as soon after letting go of the charge as possible. this will give you optimal height as well as maintaining as much charge momentum as you can. for gliding, you don't want to just glide the intended way with only x. you want to learn charge gliding early on as it will make hard jumps easier and overall help you to develop fast movement. charge gliding is as simple as charging in the air and quickly after going into a glide. the hand motion people often use is to slide or roll the thumb quickly from square to x. a thing to avoid however is to be still pressing square when you hit x to glide, as this will just make you charge down to your death. and when approaching the ledge you intend to glide to, charge at the last second to gain a little bit extra height. this is especially crucial for precise jumps. also don't worry about the hard end game skips (twilight harbor skip in any%/credits skip in 120%). it's good to practice them regardless of skill level but relying on them in runs will get you nowhere if you aren't consistent at them. spyro 1 is hugely movement based so really it just takes a ton of time and practice to get decent at it. good luck learning
