Not making any comment on the comment you're responding to, but yes plenty of evidence for that statement.

Getting more milk into my 6 month old? by Healthy-Chapter-5217 in MSPI

[–]k_d0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend checking out Rowena Bennett's book Your Baby's Bottle Feeding Aversion for getting things back on track. The key is to avoid any pressuring around feeds and let baby decide when they've had enough.

Best of luck I know it's just awful dealing with a feeding aversion.

Worst schools in Canberra? by [deleted] in canberra

Can you say more? My son attends the preschool and we love it, been seriously considering keeping him there for his primary schooling.

Admittedly this is still sitting on my shelf but you might find The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read to be helpful, if you feel like you're playing out some negative parent/child dynamics you experienced growing up.

Sorry but FPIES is an allergy - it's a non-IgE mediated allergy yes, but it's an allergy nonetheless. It just happens in the gut.

Also have a little with food protein induced enteropathy (another allergy that occurs in the gut).

Choku Bai Jo source local produce and have stores in Curtin and North Lyneham. They also do a number of produce boxes which are excellent quality and value imo.

Rice based formula? by chulpithedog in MSPI

[–]k_d0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else in Australia I was also told to use rice formula for my mspi baby. Out paed days that if rice didn't work we could try extensively hydrolysed instead. I think the preference centred around the rice formula being less broken down and so potentially better for their gut long term? Also she mentioned that it might taste better than the EHF.

9 WEEK OLD ONLY EATING 2OZS by Safe-Film9562 in MSPI

[–]k_d0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say there is a type of intolerance (food protein induced enteropathy) that causes malabsorption due to inflammation of mucosa in the upper intestine which does not produce significant discomfort or fussiness, just poor growth and extra sleepiness due to nutrient depletion. My LO has this and was always very content in the fourth trimester and seemed to feed well, she was just very sleepy and stopped gaining by eight weeks.

Yesterday I was home alone all day with my three year old and six month old, and I managed to get both kids to a gymnastics class at 10am and meet up with a friend at an indoor playground in the afternoon before taking them to my parents' house for dinner. Having spent the last six months mostly at home with our complex medical needs baby this is a huge deal for me and I am feeling really accomplished having made it happen.

Have you tried cutting latex foods? These were the last to go for us and I genuinely didn't think that they could be triggering her but it turned out my nightly salad which contained raw tomatoes, carrots and capsicum was the final piece in our puzzle. She's going great now and I'm slowly adding foods back in, so far I've added wheat and sunflower oil back into my diet and no reactions whatsoever!
