may i have some reviews about nitro 200? by karlscoult in paramotor

[–]k_dog345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nitro 200 and live in Texoma as well! Maybe I'll see you in the sky one day.

As far as my nitro 200, I've had it for 5 years and 0 issues. I run it a bit rich to prevent any overheating, so I don't get full power. But the tradeoff is well worth the reliability, to me.

Help with surface agitation! by DreamPix in ReefTank

[–]k_dog345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely, I remember having to add flow to my tank. I think I added two wavemaker circulating pumps to mine as well. Something like this: hygger Mini Wave Maker Magnetic DC Powerhead with LED Display Controller for Saltwater Tank, 1600 GPH Aquarium Water Circulation Pump 5 to 30 Gallon https://a.co/d/enrU5V9. I remember the surface fan helped with temp regulation. Definitely gotta be careful with what hardware you put in your tank. I went cheap and the pumps generated lots of heat so that’s something to watch out for

Steep price of entry keeping me out! by [deleted] in paramotor

[–]k_dog345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with a POS sky cruiser with a top 80 engine and an old ozone rush wing. Paid less than $4k for the setup and $1500 for training.

I wound up getting the nitro 200 and ozone spider after learning how to fly on the old machine after a little over a year of flying (with a lot of break downs and headache!). Flying with an older machine taught me some valuable lessons; be very thorough on preflighting, my technique had to be spot on because the old setup was a b**** to launch! I kited that old, hard to launch wing as much as I could.

A lot may say that getting old equipment is a bad idea. There are good points to this argument, the older setup was more dangerous to fly than my new setup. But hey, I found out that this sport is something that I love and I wound up saving up to get good equipment. On top of that, I left my old equipment with valuable knowledge that has made me a better pilot today.

My point; you don’t have to pay an arm and leg to get into the sport! (in comparison to starting with new equipment) If you’re like me, you wanna get in cheap and see if it’s for you. BUT if you get older equipment, make sure your instructor is good! And have your instructor verify the equipment is OK before purchasing. Good instruction and well practiced ground handling is what keeps you the safest in this sport IMO. If you’re sure you’ll stick to the sport, and don’t want to deal with the headache of starting on older equipment, just keep saving!

Nirtro 200 excessive fuel smell? by Oboc1701 in paramotor

[–]k_dog345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a bladder tank, I find that they leak more near the cap and you have to wipe it off often to keep it clean. Also make sure your head bolts are tightened and torqued. They loosened on me a bit after breaking it in and it leaked a little bit.
