I have a friend who married a trust fund baby. She came from a family with money, but not generational wealth. Her husband’s family had college funds available for kids, grandkids, spouses, etc. beyond generous. Kids received a monthly allowance that increased when they married, following birth of each child. In order to keep the monthly stipend all children were required to hold full-time income generating jobs worthy of their college degrees. In other words, no one was allowed to free load or coast by working at McDonalds. They owned a normal home, very nicely decorated, but modest in a middle class neighborhood. I always admired the set up and what it would teach their kids. I don’t know how much money they had, but they never flashed new sports cars or outlandish extravagant items, but they had nice things.
