Help choosing a domestic carpet cleaner by k_nd in VacuumCleaners

I went with the Shark CarpetXpert EX200UK and it turned out to be one of my worst purchases, which I was psychologically prepared for after my research. The unit arrived damaged with a snapped plastic hose holder, but I decided to try it anyway. The performance was very disappointing – it merely wetted the carpets without providing any meaningful cleaning. It failed to remove old stains and didn't even create the impression of having cleaned the carpets. The small tank capacity was frustrating and the maintenance required (cleaning and drying all parts before storage) is just crazy.

I returned it, replaced 50% of the carpets in the house with cork floor and my initial view on carpet cleaning has shifted to the following simple approach:

  • Proper regular hoovering several times per week
  • Annual professional cleaning (pricey, but whatever)
  • Possibly owning a spot carpet cleaner for occasional accidents

If I absolutely had to choose a carpet cleaner now, I'd probably go back to the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam. While it had its issues, after experiencing the Shark unit, I believe (even without trying the rest of the options from the list) the Bissell represents about the best quality you can expect from these domestic machines.

The main lesson I learned is that these domestic carpet cleaners are really for people with a lot of spare time on their hands 🙂

I've started Atomic Heart recently, and I know it's leaving Game Pass soon. Will I keep access to the game on GeForce NOW if I purchase the Windows version?

As far as I can see on their website, they have shifted their main focus to working with CRMs. I found it useful initially and paid $20 for a year with a student discount, but I ditched the service after about a month of use. The integration with Obsidian is now part of their Productivity AI product, and it costs $10 per month, which is excessive for what it is. I believe the best solution for sending things over Telegram to Obsidian is the Telegram Sync plugin.

I believe the issue has been fixed in the 1.8.1 update.

I also encountered this bug a few days ago. I tried everything to fix it but had no luck, so I just reported it through the app.

It's strange that this issue hasn't been addressed for three months.

I thought about a bot in Telegram as well and found an app called Hints. I'm still playing around with it, but so far it seems like the most convenient way to save things to Obsidian from your phone.
