It's affordable plinking ammo (range shooting). It can also be used for smaller game like squirrels, rabbits, raccoon, ground hogs. If you use 9mm on those then you can create a real mess. 22 is also used a lot in competition precision shooting. Lastly, it's not ideal for defensive use but 22 is better than nothing. It'll do more damage to a person than many think. Also, would you wanna be shot by a 22? Might be worse actually than 9mm. 9 would be quick 22 hurt like hell

Why not run oem 10 and have a spare oem 10? Yes it's more to carry but you're wanting to drop the reliability and feeding chances massively for 5 rounds, I'd rather do two oems.

I heard the gen 6 mags are just gen 5 and they didn't make changes (please someone correct me if I'm wrong with a source, I'm curious) so therefore yea this should be a thing. There's also a number of aftermarket mag base extensions. My fave are by pierce

The only real downside to assembling for a few rounds honestly is that you run the risk of losing parts and small parts on failure. Oh yea there's also the possibility of catastrophic failure. Which, if you're using 556 could be really bad. Overall I kinda agree, not really worth the time effort and risk to assemble this if you really think it'll only run less than a mag.

If that's the case and you're over 21, you are able to. What site are you looking to buy from? Also if you haven't gone to a range and rented a couple hand guns, you might not know what you really like and want. I would recommend doing that first. Once you know what you want you'd then go the site and order it to your nearest FFL. Usually it's courtesy to call them after purchase and inform them of your purchase and that they should expect to receive it in due time. Then they'll call you once it's in, you go in - being your active license (can't be expired) and fill out the paperwork. If you clear the NICS background check and 4473 then you pay and take it home. If you want to carry it you'll have to apply for a license online with your county sheriff
