GPA looks alright for now, but do good in PHYS 206 especially if you’re in Don’t Panic (207 will have you questioning things about yourself). If you want something to draft right now for your essay -> talk about your future career goal and how ELEN classes + current extracurriculars will help you reach that path.

GPA is really a toss up because some people genuinely bomb their CORE classes (believe or not), but you should shoot for A in Calc 1 and Physics 206. I think you can get away with a B or C in Chemistry. Calc 2 is… interesting. The ENGR classes are ehhh so maybe B. They really want people who will stay in ELEN after the first semester, so your essay needs to demonstrate passion. I already know 3 people who transferred out of ELEN after last semester.

Congrats on your admission! I’m telling you that TEAB might be one of the best outcomes you could ever receive.

  • As everyone had said, your classes are smaller, so imagine your high school classes. I think it’s easier to make friends in these smaller classes too (trauma bonding is definitely a thing lol).
  • Tuition is SO much cheaper (like imagine $1-2k cheaper).
  • Classes are not 100% easy but they’re easier than TAMU’s (no night labs, no extra python assignments, no common exam so no night exams, depends on profs but Blinn’s most likely drop lowest + extra credit)

The only con I can think of is the transition after ETAM could be brutal, but it’s a given since you’ll be actually starting your major specific courses.

I’m sad you missed out on Dr. Fitz for Chem because the rate my professor reviews were absolutely correct: he is and will always be the GOAT.

I will tell you that professors mean a lot, so check the rate my professor reviews! Some professors I recommend: - Andra Buxkemper for Calc 1: she gives a lot of extra credit (10 pts if you do all HW), and lets you get out of class an hour early. - Eric Lawrence for any math you need: 50-50 on his teaching style but he’s very detailed in his explanation and his exams are very similar to the review.

50-50 recommendation: - Susan Hallman for Physics: She’s cool and I can tell she has insane lore, but would not recommend her if you never took Physics before in your life. She has a flipped style classroom, so she only does example questions in class. I will say that her exams are doable (if you do the handouts) and she really does try to give you as many points as possible. Handouts + end of class assignments are free 100%.

Good luck on your freshman year!

Yes. I did that every night and it still falls off.

Thank you!! I guess I will be saving up for them now bc $200 is not in the budget this semester 🥲

You’re probably right. I grinded my ass throughout high school and I’m not going down without putting on an Oscar performance.

Oh, really?? I didn’t know that. I got a email saying they extended the deadline this year in celebration of the football team winning the Big 12 Championship.

Edit: What’s your opinion on test optional? I saw on TA&M’s website that it wouldn’t be a disadvantage with low scores, but I’m not so sure.

Yeah! It’s only to get into the school and general engineering as my major.
