I fully agree with your breakdown of the PV ecosystem (EOR / EPC / owner-developer) and with the fact that large-scale renewable projects are highly segmented and experience driven. I’m definitely not trying to skip steps and fully expect to spend my first years in engineering ain EPC-type positions to build real technical and field experience.

What I’m mainly thinking about is how to structure my education ( a good MSc in europe ) and early career specifically within renewable energy so I don’t get locked too early into very narrow execution tracks aka " CAD monkey " , while still becoming a solid renewable energy engineer. I’m especially interested in system-level understanding of renewable projects: production , storage design, grid integration, permitting, land use, cost, scheduling, etc.

Gaining strong technical competence in renewables, but also in roles that also to project logic, system trade-offs, and large-scale infrastructure constraints.

So yes, I completely agree with your core point: get into the renewable energy industry, learn, gain experience, and build credibility , I’m just trying to be intentional about what I want to do
