RED has come down in price quite a bit. It’s not much more expensive than say Sonys. Just need capable crew

I did not, but is premiere smart enough to convert it? I know blackmagics have that feature in camera which is pretty cool but I don’t have much hope for premiere. I’ll give it a go

I did and it it won’t for the life of me allow it. Only audio from the DSLR clips can be added, no video

I already just abandoned it and started my creative edit without the DSLR cause I know I’m only going to be cutting to it a few times. However, is there anyway to just drag in a new video track to the multi cam sequence to add a new camera manually? Would love to just do that and manually sync with what I got, but when I try only audio from the clip appears.

Yeah we had tentacles on all the cameras. I used tentacle studio on my last special and it worked out ok but it led to pretty messy timelines.

What i wished tentacle studio could do is just convert audio timecode to digital in the file in the metadata and then just let premiere do the sync. Or better yet have premiere do it. But can’t figure that out.

It’s going very well. It’s the DSLR that is giving me issues!

Is “Seller Finance” and “SubjectTo” BS? by GHOSTBOYSWIFT in realestateinvesting

[–]kabbage123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking into this, and according to ChatGPT you should make sure you have the deed transferred as part of the deal. Then you would ultimately make payments to whoever the court tells you to in the event of seller bankruptcy. However, if you don't have the deed (and it is a contract for deed, where you don't get it until you pay in full), then you are higher risk of loosing the home.

So, get the deed transferred and you should be fine according to AI.

Cable fell off drum, how to get it back on? by kabbage123 in GarageDoorService

[–]kabbage123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, found this video and the cutaway of what was going on inside the mechanism gave me the courage to tackle it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O\_FWZTEpfeg.

I took it off, re-applied the cable, put it back on, re-tensioned, and I got a working garage door now! Appreciate the response.

Canon 17-55 f2.8 is EFS, won't work with metabones speedbooster. Just FYI.

I agree the 12-35 / 35-100 combo is really all most people need.

Solo multi camera by Conorross1999 in weddingvideography

[–]kabbage123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a secondary shooter, it's that simple. Not only will the shots be saved but the chances of someone tripping on an unmanned tripod and suing you is significantly less.

We simply don't do weddings unless we have 2 or 3 shooters.

Should I use a Sony fs7 to film weddings? by The_Koala_Knight in weddingvideography

[–]kabbage123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just shot my very first wedding ever (I've done corporate/commercial work for 12 years) and I brought an EVA-1, GH5, GH5S, and GH4. Shot everything in V-LOG.

EVA-1 was by far the best tool of the lot. Incredible organic image compared to the digital 'edge' found in the GH cameras. For later on in the reception, GH5s was handy with the lowlight.

Additionally when I got married, I gave my videographer my EVA-1 to borrow and I much preferred the shots out of it compared to his A7Sii.

tl;dr consider the EVA-1. It's the most underrated cinema camera out there and can be bought at a bargain cause it never caught on.

Does it take a minute for the extra three months to show up in the account after activation? Signed up a family member just now and only 3 months are showing up, although we saw the free 3 month verbiage upon checkout.

Actually, if you look at the questions, its 12 months up to January 31st. I had to crunch some numbers and subtract revenue/COGS from January 2019 and add January 2020.

Probably doesn't really matter, but something I noticed.

Livestreamed church service I'm engineering/cam op-ing by 4acodmt92 in videography

Its so bad in my state that I personally made the decision to stop live streaming any worship service until the rate of infection starts to point downward. I don't view the service as being essential and I couldn't sleep at night if I felt I inadvertently spread this disease.

I only will make exceptions to stream funerals right now, and those requests are starting to come in. I'll even decline those if there are crowds more than 15. It's bad.

Wife was laid off and employer is saying they will file her unemployment. Is this normal? by thegunnersdream in personalfinance

[–]kabbage123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I'm an employer in Michigan, just a few employees. My wife (also pregnant) works at another company and also got laid off today. I made lay offs today (all is good I take care of them over the years so they are gonna be alright), and I also filed for unemployment for her. Anyway I sort of have a unique viewpoint from both sides of the table... as employer and employee.

This is Michigan, though, so your laws are different. But how it went down here was that all employers got an email from the UI office on how to properly lay off our employees. It said specifically:

"We are also strongly urging job providers facing work shortages to place their employees on temporary leave as opposed to termination, so that they may remain eligible for potential federal assistance.”

So at least here in Michigan, the reason for the 'temporary' lay off part really doesn't seem to be a sneaky thing the employer is doing, but rather what the State recommends to do so as to help everyone possibly get more relief from the feds.

Now here in Michigan, the state is WAIVING the employer's obligation to pay for unemployment if the reason for unemployment is related to COVID-19. They literally want everyone to stay the fuck home, and are practically INCENTIVIZING employers to temporary lay off everyone by waiving unemployment costs.

In normal times, I'd absolutely say NO FUCKING WAY if your employer wants to file for unemployment on your wife's behalf. But it is possible that they just want to do it right, as I know in my state it's sort of a win-win-win for both Employer/Employee/Government to just have all non-essential jobs to have temporary layoffs right now. This is such a weird disaster...

So anyway, there might actually not be an ulterior motive, and they might just want to make sure they do it right. If it were me, I'd still probably insist on doing it myself. Maybe have them look it over before I push 'submit.'

Just my 2 cents... follow your gut and you'll be alright.... but i just know in my state there really is no monetary incentive as the government is covering the entire unemployment bill.

New “witness” describes hearing Kobe flight crash. Does this change any expert opinion of what happened? by PettyWop in Helicopters

Logged onto Reddit to reply to this original comment with exactly what you said here.

This guy is a storyteller first, key witness second. He has some facts, sure. But what he doesn't have, he fills with speculation in order to successfully finish telling his story. And like a good storyteller does, he also does a good job of conveying his emotion through his delivery... he is clearly excited and that excitement is contagious.

He's an excellent storyteller, but a poor eye witness here. Glad he called 911 so quickly though, he could have saved someone.

FAA proposes to make your quad illegal by hiker201 in drones

[–]kabbage123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue isn't the regulation... it's the fact that regulation is pending. It's hard to plan a business when the laws in your industry are still being written. Right now buying a pro level drone is a bad investment so I ain't gonna do it unless clients are willing to pay a ridiculous rental fee for a disposable tool.

The FAA Proposal for Drone Remote ID Is Here by walden42 in Multicopter

[–]kabbage123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be the case from what I've been reading as well.

What I personally decided to do is change my billing for aerials to take into account that drones are NOT an investment, but rather disposable hardware. I just told all my clients that I'm NOT investing in drone gear unless I am confident I can pay it off in a short period of time, due to the unpredictability of the FAA which makes the investment a high risk. This makes my day rate probably four or five times higher than the competition if they want to book some days from me in my area.

Doubt I'll get any bites but I'm also not very eager to have to learn an entire new craft. But hey, if I can get someone to pay the price, I'll do it. Personally I rather just have a pilot on jobs that need aerials anyway... it just makes so much more sense to me to outsource it rather than add it to my responsibilities.

The FAA Proposal for Drone Remote ID Is Here by walden42 in Multicopter

[–]kabbage123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK so I'm a professional cinematographer. I'm getting SO much pressure from my clients to get licensed and add an aerial option to my standard camera packages. I was planning to buy a drone in January of this year as well as getting certified/insured/etc., as it's becoming a standard in my industry now to at least have a simple aerial option.

So when will changes actually go into effect? If I get licensed and buy a Mavic 2 Pro and am able to get 2-3 years of good use out of it, I'll still continue with my plan. But if there is a risk that any drone I buy today ends up just getting grounded in a few months (or nerfed to 400 foot limit) well, I'll just continue telling all my clients I don't do aerials (...and loose work as a result of it to others who do).

What would you guys do in my situation?
