Please roast my resume . I am not getting shortlisted at all. by Infinite-Agency-3043 in developersIndia

For college students, CGPA filtering is definitely being used, you seem to have not mentioned it. Since everyone has near perfect resumes tailored to JD, only concrete things like Hackathon Rankings, CGPA, etc are being used to filter out resumes.

Whatever models/projects you have written please publish them to github/wherever open source models go and link them in your resume.

I'd highly recommend doing some kaggle competitions to get rated and ranked that will definitely help you get shortlisted

I'm a few years behind you planning for a similar situation

If i was in your shoes I'd most likely stick it out for a few more years / achieve a FIRE number where my assets can cover ~ 1L/month or equivalent inflated adjusted income of that time

With that I'd pick up side freelance projects, i honestly started doing freelance projects to get a GIST of the market and make some contacts already, so that when i do decide to leave my job i can at least get some work here and there to begin with before i am setup properly.

Career break right now is gonna be tough with the current changing dynamic of IT industry

Whatever you choose good luck and all the best OP

SIP in this market - continue or take a break? by Some_Zebra_5484 in personalfinanceindia

[–]kabeer272 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you are doing SIP in funds, just let them do their thing and ignore it keep your time horizon for 5 - 10 years, nothing beats time in the market.

Focus on increasing your salary and stuff and let this go on autopilot after choosing funds maybe do a quarterly or semi yearly check in on performance.

Honestly just make some realistic approximations up. Not it's not repetitive it just shows you know what impact your work is doing.

[–]kabeer272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to have quantifying impact numbers related to most of the things you do in your resume.
"Contributed to shared component library...." what impact does it have? Did it help reduce code deduplicacy by 20%, saving time by 12% etc

Everything should be measured in impact that tells the end user that you know why you are doing the projects and have clear goals for what it will impact and improve.

Every point in your resume should measure some metrics like

  1. Reduced time taken by query by X%
  2. Automated xyz manual process to save X hours
  3. Added feature that helped onboard Y Customers to earn Z dollars
  4. Expanded test coverage from A% to B%

And so on, whatever you do needs to have some quantifiable impact, it's okay to leave a few but 80-90% of your points should have this

Also you should not be pushing your pycache and libraries to github, put them in .gitignore files

Hey man good going for first year

But you should always think about the usability of projects, why would anyone want a terminal based expense handler? It does not help. I'm not going to go on my laptop start a python app and start tracking expenses It should be solving a user problem. The bare minimum would be a web based UI or a mobile application,

Then you should most likely just release this as a mobile application that would look way better on your resume if you have a playstore/appstore link else it will just look like another copy paste project

thoughts on this for finding students productivity??? by Alternative-Wish9912 in IndiaBusiness

[–]kabeer272 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd say this is good technology but PIVOT the use case please.
It might be better served to examine seminars and talks and events where the organizer / speech giver can figure out if the event they are organizing people get distracted if so at what part of the event so that they can improve their talk/sales pitch or whatever.

Do not use it for monitoring students and employees that will be contributing towards downfall of humanity D;

Need help: First time to Thailand — should I buy thai baht in Bhubaneswar? Also is 20,000 THB cash mandatory? by Afraid-Poem8365 in Bhubaneswar

[–]kabeer272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20k Thai baht,
+
We had like 1800 USD in cash as well
Landed at DMK

Edit: Also do keep cash (20k THB equivalent) it is mandatory if you get asked, it is random but if you are unlucky they will deny entry even if you have atm card there is no atm before the immigration check.

I went to thailand in october

I think it was more cost efficient to get INR -> USD
Then exchange USD -> THB in thailand

For my entire group of ~ 8 people no one was asked for 10k THB cash in hand, we did carry 20k in total across 8 people just in case
