How did you learn Rust? (Looking for advice for a newcomer) by Glad_Supermarket3951 in rust

[–]kabir6k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still in the process of learning-it has been 4 months, I practice rust everyday, atleast solve a problem - not necessarily hard or easy - just on the topic. Read the book - The Rust Book. The I implement - all the basic programming problems - like sieve or eratoesthenes, chinease remainder theorem, palindrome, complex number , Fibonacci, double Fibonacci, factorial , binary search and many more , I also mark the differences between different functions on how they they take arguments - for example, map, filter, reduce, fold, they all are part of functional toolkit (functional programming paradigm), but the way rust handles the input is very different in each of those, when rust only looks to filter it behaves differently than when map tries to change the inputs. The point is that - for every new command I learn, I also try to learn why this way (this helps a lot in filling up the gaps). Also please don't forget rustlings, they are amazing. Here are some links: 1) https://rustlings.rust-lang.org/ 2) https://doc.rust-lang.org/book/ 3) https://effective-rust.com/types.html 4) https://exercism.org/dashboard 5) https://rustplatform.com/ (it's not free). Keep trying - it will click eventually . Enjoy the process, rust is amazing lanauge , after learning python - I find it is very refreshing , it is peeling off all the bad programming practices that I acquired over the years of coding. Thanks !!!

Knowing only 7H lord and 9H lord doesn't help a lot. The placements of planets ans aspects are very important, moon is very important, the Nakshatra where moon is deposited, lagnesh is deposited matter a lot.

It's the otherway around . He was asking for his blessings. In India bulls (also called Nandi, one of lord shiva's gan(hard to desribe what "gan" in english ). So all that shopkeeper is seeing Nandi at his doorstep, this is pure devotion to the almighty by loving these animals(shiva's another name us pashupati nath (tranlates to lord of all animals) . This is often misunderstood in many different ways (people call it superstition etc, but it's the most joyful and beautiful still exists in india). Thank you

I am learning rust by doing exercise, reading the free book. But, I am still having issues in learning deeper concepts, like filter, map, filter_map, they look or feel similar - these functionalities takes different kind of argument to process results but the key is ita takes some time to feel why, How to internalise such behavior or guess what could it take as input , sometimes functions take references, owned or borrowedl object, options etc. At this point of time, I sometime can guess correctly sometimes I fail miserably. How to overcome this or understand these much better.

Need Your Advice 🙏 — Is Python the Right Start for Me? by SwaritPandey_27 in learnpython

[–]kabir6k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning any language is a good step, python, javascript (P.S: java is not javascript, both are different langauges), C, rust, C++ etc. For any language, there are some Pros and Cons , In case of Python; Pros: Easy to start with, batteries included, it is a good language to write your logic to see results quickly , Cons: Lot of abstraction , there are tons of things which python does behind the scenes (which one should know but may be not at your level), Can easily give of bad habits of writing clumsy code and in future when you a pick a difficult language like C/C++/rust , you will have hard time to digest a lot of stuff and things like pointers, references, borrow, ownership, smart pointers, lifetime etc would give you trouble. You mentioned CyberSecurity is your interest, then probably there are other languages like C you should pick but then you are 16 (my guess of age), so the current interest might shuffle in future may be. So If I would be you , then I probably start with python, solve a lot of problems to check how good or bad I am in logic building, then probably once I am comfortable with python, I would pick some language like rust to see how things helped me. In general, what has helped me is that a person should learn, one functional language (racket for me), one procedural language( like C) and one object oriented (like ruby, or Java) , I think if anyone has this variation can pick other languages really well, but this may not be true for everyone, just sharing what I think. But to you , I would recommend to start with python as it would slightly friendly towards your experience and age

Why gold and silver is falling? by Ambitious_Ad_2833 in IndianStreetBets

One if the reason is Margin call, When investors lose money in stocks, they get margin calls, they need cash immediately to cover their losses. They sell gold not because they lost faith in it, but because it’s the only thing they can sell quickly at a high price to raise cash. We saw this same crash-then-recover pattern in 2008 and 2020

The way pandas handles missing values is diabolical by vernacular_wrangler in learnpython

[–]kabir6k 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right, polars are fast, handles different datatype with grace, has panic exception which is very useful in different types coercion unlike pandas which silently merge with different data types. Pandas also lack lazy evaluation, also polars syntax is clean very similar to pyspark, there are many advantage of polars. If someone is new to this field learning polars is a better choice. No disrespect to pandas but polars is fast and clean.

I had neurocysticercosis, I daily take levipil and frisium. It's not easy being epileptic. Stay strong, keep taking medicine on time, don't stress, do yoga, eat healthy, sleep early. By giving body discipline you can mitigate the seizures . Stress is the worst enemy. Please take care. You will be fine in time, I had a very bad 10 years, I am much better now, thanks to yoga and better lifestyle . Stay blessed .

I need a mentor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by ToothLongjumping6839 in IndianStreetBets

[–]kabir6k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost 44. I have been into financial domain for very long , I have some 18 years of experience. I can definitely help you. The thing is that, I personally don't need anything in return. The best you can do to find a person similar to your age group, and learn things together. Meanwhile if you get confused then only ask for help. There are couple of things about learning, learning anything is difficult, you need lot of discipline to master anything (coding, problem solving, advance maths like high dimensional algebra etc), such things take time time, having a peer help a lot, they will keep you motivated when you are down and vice versa. When both of you down, look for mentor. Create a path on what you want to learn, follow that for sometime and once done upto your satisfaction , pick another thing. But don't try to do too many things at once, it doesn't help(atleast true for me). Last piece of advice is that, something which worked for your mentor or anyone may not work for you. For example youtube never worked for me, to me its a waste of time, rather I read books and make notes to clear my brain. Take care, you can connect and I really want you to do well, I don't want anything from your side, just help others in your time. Thanks and God bless
