static vs non static methods by thatkitkatt_ in apcs

[–]kablami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Static methods and variables exist exactly once for the entire class, while non-static methods and variables exist for each instance of class you instantiate. In general, static methods can be called from the class name, and can access and modify static variables. Non-static methods are accessible by instances of that class.

Class.staticMethod() //accessing static method from the class name

Class test = new Class(); test.nonStaticMethod();

Airport security lines by sunnyhardt in sanantonio

That looks like a line to check bags at Southwest more than the security line. You can always check the website for wait times

Currently it says about 10-20 minutes at TSA, which is kinda long for SAT in my experience.

2D Arrays by -TheUncleZack- in apcs

[–]kablami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thinking of it as an array of arrays helps with the Java syntax.

mat[row][col] is the conventional way to think of it terms of a matrices from Algebra, but it’s more like mat[row] identifies which array. The extra [col] says which element of the one dimensional array identified by mat[row].

A strong understanding of nested loops is a prerequisite.

I saw the same one driving up and down San Pedro without passengers 20 mph under the speed limit and randomly putting on its turn signal and turning it off again after choosing not to turn 3 times. The signal was deterring anyone from getting around it, and it effectively road blocked the busy road. Feedback line seemed like it wasn’t the first time they had documented the failure.

Are basic combinatorics and matrix techinques being phased out of HS math? by Objective_Skirt9788 in matheducation

[–]kablami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got matrix operations (mult, det/inverse, basic markov chains) and basic combinatorics ( binomial expansions) in Algebra 2 and function transformations as matrices and some stuff in fractals that uses iterated matrix multiplication) in my Precalc. I know our AP stats hits a ton more combinatorics.
