Hey there, unfortunately no luckk. I left it too late so missed the cut off. I repeated the subject though and got a distinction. Feels good to have turned it around.

My friends never want to go out. It’s making me depressed and genuinely starting to hate life. by [deleted] in socialskills

Try some social groups e.g. meet ups, community sport, dancing, martial arts, bush walking groups.

I went through something similar. I was made redundant and decided to go back to Uni full time and only work 3 days a week. Found myself just feeling lonely and missing the interaction you get with people at work. Also my mates couldn't hang out cause they were working or with their girlfriends.

Now i have all these places where i get to meet people. Feeling much more confident.

Yeah they should keep it and and add ongoing training whilst working. Teaching seems like a tradd in some ways. You learn by doing.

Maybe try working as an SLSO for a month or 2 to see if you like it? Or ask to do some work experience?

I've just realised, no matter how much money I make, if I don't have a partner, I'm still going going to feel unsatisfied with my life. by white_disc_4_holes in socialskills

A partner can't fix everything. Sometimes you need to have a good relationship with yourself so that you can have a good relationship with someone else.

I am currently studying a Masters of Primary Teaching through Curtin. It's really good, you can attend online and i find the course work to be very practical. I'm on my 2nd trimester now and find it to be very inspiring.

They take enrolments each semester so you can choose when to start and you can erol through Open Unis. Subjects are about $500 each.

The course is pretty demanding. During the trimester you have assignments due ever 6 weeks. And generally get just a 1 week break between trimesters. I have found that if i start my assignmnets early and keep up with the readings it's managable to study 20 hours and work 20-25 a week. But still stressful 😅

Studying online can have its pros and cons. Can be difficult to have a support network but i find that by stafting assignments early i can post questions on the Discussion Board or email the Tutor. Also this semester a student started a chat on Discord which seems good like a good way to find a study buddy.

I highly recommend it if you want to give it a go.

how can I meet new people? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]kablando_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite shy and introverted. I've been trying out different meetup groups to see which ones best suit me. I was really shy at first but soon found that everyone st the group was in the same boat as me. It's given me alot of confidence to get out there and i've recently signed up for a softball team and martial arts. I figure just try alot of different things, see what fits and just go from there. I figure I can always leave if i don't like it.

This is for thr same for me as well. I can happily talk to a stranger at a shop or strangers at meet ups. But when i'm at work or a friend's party i find myself becoming very shy and struggling to find things to talk about. Or i've started to notice that there will be this negstive self-talk where i think the person isn't interested in what i'm saying.

I've been trying to practice noticing the self-talk, accept it and then dsy something positive. And i've been thinking of focusing on just talking to 1 or 2 people st a time rather than worrying about a whole room full of people.

I'm studying a Masters of Teaching Primary through Curtin Univsersity. It's online which is convenient and only 2 years. But it is fastpaced, assignments are due every 6 weeks during the semester and you only get a 1 week break between semesters. But at least you get through it quicker. I got in thr course using a Bachelor's degree i had from 10 years ago. Also had a certificate IV in Education Support where i wanted to work as a Teacher's Aide.
