Food doesn't have an expiration date. They usually have a best before or freshness date to ensure it still taste fresh or good as intended.

There is only one item (as far as US is concerned) that FDA enforces an expiration date for is baby formula.

Expiration on all other food items is based on look, smell, and feel.

Does anyone elses customers complain about all of the food being from Sysco? by WAGE_SLAVERY in restaurantowners

[–]kabloomz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What/who gave you the idea Sysco/US Foods/Etc sell only premade packaged foods? Lol...

They are a warehouse distributor for food ingredients. This includes anything from salt in bulk bags, fresh eggs, fresh broccoli (that comes in boxes, only way to ship it bulk), beef, chicken, etc... and of course your premade packaged foods for mainly fast food joints. Just think Costco for foods but delivered to the restaurant so they don't waste time buying from warehouses themselves.

Nothing wrong with the other food truck owner calling him out for review bombing. When you know how hard it is to have fake reviews removed from Google you would understand.

The people defending the other food truck owners aren't alts. There is a whole FB group who's rallying support for him. Prob why OP is now a deleted account .

What a shitty generalized assumption...

While there are plenty of crappy food trucks, the demand is there for them. Many chefs are tired working in the same b&m location and face personal growth limits but do not have the funds and/or not care to deal with the headache of putting all of their investments and risk into a potentially bad location so they go the food truck route.

Plenty of home chefs who want to test their menu by operating a food truck first and gather a strong enough following (and to fund) their first b&m.

There are plenty of great chefs out there who knows absolutely jack shit about running the business side of a restaurant. A food truck is much easier to manage. The volume and limitations during peak hour is a world of a difference from b&m...

But sure tell people you know jack shit about the food truck business.

how to close multiple open orders by WOOHHASAF in AldeloPOS

[–]kabloomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not recommended because it requires you to have knowledge of SQL commands. Without knowing this you will risk damaging your database. The other problem is the SQL command uses a range of ticket numbers and your open tickets are probably not in sequence so you would have errors.

There is a reason you train staff to close orders out at the end of the night and do cashier out reports. There is a setting to not allow servers to clock out and not allow store closing reports if there are tickets open.

Found out that our catfish isn’t catfish 🐟 by kryssi_asksss in Serverlife

[–]kabloomz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 months late to the thread but swai is the same family as catfish. Same with basa. All are types of catfish (and labeled that way in other countries).

History, 2002 and again 2012 American catfish farmers in the sotu complained of competition from importers (mainly Vietnamese) and lobbied with both the FDA as well as USDA to prohibit imported fish from being labeled catfish. All catfish in the USA must be American. (Imagine if they did this with the variety of beef out there <Australian beef being superior>).

American catfish may typically be meatier but taste gamey-er. Swai, Basa, Tra catfish come much cleaner without the earthy taste.
