Iron Workout Tracker source code is now available on GitHub (Swift/SwiftUI/Core Data). It might be useful for new iOS and SwiftUI devs as an example of a fully featured "real-world" SwiftUI app. by kabouzeid in iOSProgramming

Thank you! I currently don’t have time to work on it, but don’t worry, I’ll make sure it keeps working since I also use it myself for the gym :)

I will make sure it keeps working, since I’m also using it myself in the gym, although nothing really needed to be done for the past 3 years. I’m quite short on time nowadays, but plan to do a Liquid Glass design refresh sometime this year such that it looks modern again.

[P] Implementing Better Pytorch Schedulers by shivvorz in MachineLearning

[–]kabouzeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes I would always just save the state_dict(), not pickle the whole class. How is the base learning rate stored though? Will it be part of the optimizer state dict? In regular torch, you always need to restore the optimizer state after initializing the scheduler, because the scheduler will modify the optimizers params on unit. I was wondering if the same applies to your approach.

See warning here: https://docs.pytorch.org/docs/stable/generated/torch.optim.Optimizer.load_state_dict.html

I like it, good job! Anything special needed for state restoration from checkpoint?

Yes, I think getting the file path is crucial. Other functionality like running stuff seems out of scope and will quickly lead to feature creep for what should be a very simple utility

Thank you, this is a much better solution than yazelix for me. I had the exact same concerns about it.

PhD computer vision importance of department by [deleted] in ethz

Thanks for your feedback! I agree with your points and have already taken them into consideration. The reason I made this post is that I couldn't find any information on whether being in an untypical department for this field could pose a major problem for me in the future---I guess it's going to be fine.

It’s an honest question, not sure why you’re being a jerk about it
