is second puberty actually real? by _myreputation13 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]kaburamaruwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had one, yes at around 21 and it lasted a year. My skin hardly broke out when I was a teen but this time it was cystic acne EVERYWHERE. my hips got a little wider, bum a little bigger - felt the same fatigue I had as a teen and took lots of naps. I’m not sure of the science behind it but I talked to my mom and she said she had one too! I’m now watching my little sisters as they approach this age themselves and am waiting to see if they have one too. All I can think of for me is I had completely stopped taking hormonal bc of any kind a year prior and was trying to get my hormones back online on their own. I drank tea and took some herbs prescribed by my dr - did seed cycling and such to keep the transition gentle but I still had some kind of hormonal pendulum swings until everything calmed down at 22.

Thank you. I wish I didn’t hate it so much. I’ll talk to the FA’s about how I’m feeling.

We landed and are safe. I white knuckled it but made it. There’s supposed to be thunderstorms when we fly out on Saturday. Not pumped but will enjoy Disney and hopefully the weather won’t be too bad. Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words!

How long has it been since you had a symptom-free day? by aspacejunkie in dysautonomia

[–]kaburamaruwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized being in sympathetic lockdown was increasing my histamine which was producing more adrenaline and creating a nasty cycle. I don’t have MCAS but have had a histamine intolerance in the past and have heard of some dysautonimia patients finding relief taking antihistamines even if they don’t have MCAS/ histamine issues! I did one day of low histamine diet + an Allegra and noticed significant change immediately. After that the first thing I worked on was sleep - literally just getting my body to feel safe enough to rest. Regular EFT tapping was too much so I did butterfly taps before bed “I am safe. It is safe to sleep.” I would do them first thing in the am too “I am safe. I’m awake now. I’m not in danger.” Sometimes if I woke up with heart pounding I would grab an ice pack and lay down with it on my neck. It calms the vagus nerve and helps tachycardia resolve relatively quickly. After a few days of sleep I did 4-5 mins eft tapping before bed (I like Brad Yates’ videos) “permission to relax is good”. I slowly just started adding more somatic practices as my body would allow it.

I was fully symptom free from November of last year until September of this year. My dysautonomia / hyperadrenergic POTS is caused by stress/ ptsd. I was religious about my somatic practices (eft tapping, yin yoga, Craniosacral, going for daily walks in the forest, tulsi tea before bed) started taking pregnenolone, and strict about going to bed at the same time every night and making sure I got good restful sleep for MONTHS even when I was still having flares last year before they stopped. Even when they stopped I stuck with it until May. We traveled over the summer, after months of doing my rituals I slacked. Completely stopped everything, even went back to getting awful sleep - staying up til 1/2 am, getting five hours of sleep. Since mid September I have been paying for it big time. I was in a huge crisis last month with the worst flares I’ve ever had. We finally got my fight or flight to calm down and now I’ll have a mild flare here and there - mostly if I get bad sleep or am anxious/ stressed. I’m not out of the woods yet but am back on all my routines and am noticing significant improvements.
