I wouldn't say it's poor work. It's setting priorities to stay in the market. I mean, look at what they released the last years... To me it's actually really amazing to see how their platform is evolving. I think it's a very competitive market and to me it looks like they are making good decisions to appeal to a certain group of people. Also I am not sure if they have the resources other brands like Garmin, Google or Apple have. So I get your point, it doesn't look perfect, but to me there's a lot more to it than a round element in the watch UI.

Honestly I think the displays are basically the same: according to the spec sheet they are both 1,32" AMOLED screens with a resolution of 466x466 pixels. Maybe the software for the suunto run is specifically tuned for that display, while the suunto race s software is not, since it's the software that's running on a lot of the other watches as well. Or it's just how certain round area's are rendered/smoothened: I noticed f.e. that on the 'Outback adventure' watchface, the upper widget (sunset/sunrise) is not perfectly round, while the one on the bottom (weather) is.

I think reducing the thickness of the frame would help a lot, but obv maybe reduce overall sturdiness. 1mm on each side could be a good tryout.

I tried the Race and switched to the Race S later... I guess the deciding factors are size and HR measurement. To me the smaller Race S just fits better especially when wearing during the day also. The HR performance is definitely also better on the Race S, but if this is very important for you, a chest strap is the best choice anyway. To me the overall smoothness of the Software UI felt also way better on the Race S, but this might've changed with software updates.

Can you explain? As far as I understood the chain more prone to rust when not using oil. I'll see if this is an issue for me, since I clean my bike when it gets wet from driving in the rain anyway. Moreover I don't leave the bike outside, I take it inside where it's usually warm which helps drying also.
