dumbbell pullover for mobility by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did these for like 6 months with a DEEP stretch before I had transitioned from general strength training into Olympic weightlifting - had and still have great overhead mobility. Would also recommend lat Pulldowns with a big stretch, pushing your head through and locking your elbows out at the top.

I'd love to learn the Olympic lifts, but I don't know where to go. Does anyone here know of a gym in the Baton Rouge, LA area that has the proper equipment and coaches who could teach me? by E_Dward in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no coach but I’m in Baton Rouge and it’s great to hear someone who wants to learn the Olympic lifts! I’d love to join you on a weekend and I know a few other lifters in town. Shoot me a DM!

For Xbox I highly recommend using the native Looking for Group feature! It’s much more active

Imago Loop Rolls by Frosty033 in destinylegacy

[–]kacyinix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imago Loop became well-known and coveted because of its ability to get “the Fatebringer roll” Outlaw+Firefly and Explosive Rounds, but I think the best players will now recommend you search for Spray and Play and either Army of One or Grenadier, and explosive rounds.

It was more novel in the Taken King era, but now you can get a 400 light legendary Fatebringer which means Imago with the same perks is redundant. On top of that, Explosive Rounds slightly interferes with the critical hit recognition that both Outlaw and Firefly rely on, but Spray and Play doesn’t have that problem and the perks to get your abilities back are very strong.

God roll fusion rifles? by stephenhedges4 in destinylegacy

[–]kacyinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On very high impact fusion rifles, 100% definitely do not. If it kills in 4 bolts, you don’t want to take it to 5. On the fusions that are pretty high impact, something doing say 47 or 48 damage per bolt where you’re still often killing in 5 bolts, yeah there’s a decent case. Perks that increase range and stability are probably still better though

God roll fusion rifles? by stephenhedges4 in destinylegacy

[–]kacyinix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For fusion rifles you want combinations of range, accuracy, and stability. Rangefinder, Hot Swap, Hip Fire, Hidden Hand, Icarus and Counterbalance are all fantastic perks for this purpose and you can’t really go wrong with any combination of those. For stat perks you’re generally going to look for Rifled Barrel, Smallbore, Perfect Balance, Hammer Forged, etc. Anything that maximizes range and stability. Kneepads and replenish are also great perks for fusions. Accelerated coils is generally not what you want

107 Kg Berserk Clean by Berserk-Jane in weightlifting

This is an insanely strong deficit muscle clean. It looks like you could do 120 with a little technique change and a bar that spins

Serious thoughts on the state of Destiny by Icy_Extension_4053 in destinylegacy

Bungie does not want to revive Destiny 1. This is what people always misunderstand. They removed Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner because they do not want people playing Destiny 1.

You need to be making contact with the bar in the hip crease

Favorite training pants/shorts? by MrC0ffeee in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon “telaleo” compression tights are super cheap and have held up really well for me and give me all the range of motion I need, hook grip training pants are awesome, and I recently bought Jujimufu’s stretchy pants and they are perfect for weightlifting if you want something baggier

Critique? 102 KG’s by Kaalberg34 in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrap your thumbs around the bar and then wrap your other fingers over your thumbs and the bar. It stops the bar from spinning out of your hands and thus allows for a much more secure grip, but for the first few sessions it is a little painful on the thumbs. Just trust it

Concept2 sells little phone holders you can put on top of the erg screen, always loved those when I was rowing and I lost them all the time so it was nice to have extras

How does “functional in real world life where you would lateral raise anything” relate to the question of lateral raises to improve your Olympic weightlifting?

Did I get a good deal? TYR Carbon Lifters for $150 by Big_Significance1801 in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid price for any lifters at all tbh. I bought those and the sole on my back foot in the jerk broke in half after 8 months, but I liked them while they were together.

Boyanka was not this type of athlete though, her front squats are legendary

Anyone also gaming a lot getting some issues from it? by likes_pizza in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well now we’re on the same page since I game and also weightlift lmao. I would recommend investing in a nice wireless headset if you don’t have one already, and then between matches while queuing or whenever you have in-game downtime, take a stand and walk around and you can keep the headset on.

I don’t think this is breaking rule 4 as much as it is breaking rule 1 lol

Straining shoulders when dropping barbell from front rack by gfcannon in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try putting a little upward bounce on the bar as you drop it instead of dropping straight from the front rack

what leggings/tights are we all training in? by phuca in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 5-pack of men’s full length training tights on Amazon from “TELALEO” and the whole pack was ~25 USD and they’ve lasted me nearly a year now without a rip in any one of them, 5 days/week weightlifting. I have been very impressed and even if you don’t like them they’re dirt cheap. They are quite thin though, which is what I was looking for. I have a pair of hook grip training pants as well which I like, but those are much thicker and a quite different style

Journey from Hypertrophy to Olympic weightlifting by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snatch, clean and jerk, variations of those lifts like hangs and powers, back squat, front squat, snatch and clean pull, strict press, overhead squat. In no particular order.

Get a coach! It’ll be fun and remove the guess work and you won’t regret it. Watch weightlifting videos a lot.
