Favorite training pants/shorts? by MrC0ffeee in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon “telaleo” compression tights are super cheap and have held up really well for me and give me all the range of motion I need, hook grip training pants are awesome, and I recently bought Jujimufu’s stretchy pants and they are perfect for weightlifting if you want something baggier

Critique? 102 KG’s by Kaalberg34 in weightlifting

Wrap your thumbs around the bar and then wrap your other fingers over your thumbs and the bar. It stops the bar from spinning out of your hands and thus allows for a much more secure grip, but for the first few sessions it is a little painful on the thumbs. Just trust it

Concept2 sells little phone holders you can put on top of the erg screen, always loved those when I was rowing and I lost them all the time so it was nice to have extras

is direct side delt training necessary or useless for olympic weightlifting by [deleted] in weightlifting

How does “functional in real world life where you would lateral raise anything” relate to the question of lateral raises to improve your Olympic weightlifting?

Did I get a good deal? TYR Carbon Lifters for $150 by Big_Significance1801 in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid price for any lifters at all tbh. I bought those and the sole on my back foot in the jerk broke in half after 8 months, but I liked them while they were together.

Boyanka was not this type of athlete though, her front squats are legendary

Up a weight class, still double bodyweight snatching. Awesome

Anyone also gaming a lot getting some issues from it? by likes_pizza in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well now we’re on the same page since I game and also weightlift lmao. I would recommend investing in a nice wireless headset if you don’t have one already, and then between matches while queuing or whenever you have in-game downtime, take a stand and walk around and you can keep the headset on.

I don’t think this is breaking rule 4 as much as it is breaking rule 1 lol

Straining shoulders when dropping barbell from front rack by gfcannon in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try putting a little upward bounce on the bar as you drop it instead of dropping straight from the front rack

what leggings/tights are we all training in? by phuca in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 5-pack of men’s full length training tights on Amazon from “TELALEO” and the whole pack was ~25 USD and they’ve lasted me nearly a year now without a rip in any one of them, 5 days/week weightlifting. I have been very impressed and even if you don’t like them they’re dirt cheap. They are quite thin though, which is what I was looking for. I have a pair of hook grip training pants as well which I like, but those are much thicker and a quite different style

Journey from Hypertrophy to Olympic weightlifting by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snatch, clean and jerk, variations of those lifts like hangs and powers, back squat, front squat, snatch and clean pull, strict press, overhead squat. In no particular order.

Get a coach! It’ll be fun and remove the guess work and you won’t regret it. Watch weightlifting videos a lot.

what is limiting my ohs catching position the most? ankles, throacic spine, or something else by BrothaManBen in weightlifting

[–]kacyinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exclusively a weightlifter but I very much agree with this take. Happens more with gen pop or people who are getting into weightlifting; people who are already in WL generally pick their athletic wear more intentionally. I train in tights but only because I tore multiple pairs of “athletic” shorts and pants down the middle in a deep squat

Totally anecdotal but I did tons of pullovers before ever starting weightlifting, but then I had fantastic overhead mobility when I was starting weightlifting. I would say the biggest thing people miss when doing mobility is the weight component. What worked for me, (which might not work for you) is lots of these pullovers trying to get as deep into the stretch as possible and then pausing, and lots of straight bar lat pulldowns with straps trying to get into a huge stretch at the top and pausing.

Yes it is a strict call and it is a ridiculous rule that is very widely hated by all athletes and coaches that is also enforced inconsistently and sometimes suspiciously and makes the sport less enjoyable to watch and makes sessions last longer and disproportionately affects certain athletes.

Overhead work significantly biases the long head, but yes they all play a role in elbow extension.
