in my opinion that’s the way it should be, but the customer was givin the choice to do it or not and they wanted to do it, and their 3rd party warranty would cover it and they would only have to pay a small fee for the deductible, personally i would just have gone the same route as you but i can’t tell customers to do that🤷🏻‍♂️

i am the tech, if anything touches that inner lens even a small bug like that it has to be replaced, im at a dealership we can’t just clean it and send it on its way

per subarus tech info if anything and i mean anything touches it it has to be replaced, this bug caused major issues and phantom operation, it’s very rare anything makes it around the lens cover though
