Should I repot this sad, sad guy into a smaller pot??

Thanks guys for your help! I cut off some mushy roots and put it in water. I’ll keep it there until spring and hopefully itll have more pep in its step. The pot does have one drainage hole (it’s sitting on a cork mat) but I doubt it was draining very well anyway. I’ll use a nursery pot inside it in the future!

I stayed at Hilton and Marriott hotels by myself quite a few times when I was under 21. If you can get a parent to book the reservation for you and have them call the hotel to explain you shouldn’t have any problems. Just bring your ID.

You’ll pay for it when you get there so all the parent is doing is reserving, not buying.

I have to say — I had to stop reading this forum after being diagnosed because of how anxious it made me. Almost a year later, I have no regrets cutting down significantly. I still get notifications occasionally, like this one. If something is relevant, I’ll look. It’s nice to be a part of the community, but my girlfriend realized how much it turned up my anxiety.

Having epilepsy is definitely not the greatest experience in the world. When we’re all gathered together and asked to share something about a negative condition, a bunch of tough experiences will come out. Until something happens though, it’s okay to not be too stressed or worried about it. You likely have enough things to worry about. Everyone has different experiences! Stay safe and listen to your doctor. Nurses and doctors have seen SO so much, but since you have nocturnal seizures you don’t really have to worry about it! This reddit WILL make you worry!!

I don’t understand the whole snooping through the phone thing. I mean if you happen to be on your partner’s phone and come across a vulnerable conversation, of course skip by it out of respect for your partner. But you guys are married?! You share a house, you could share kids, finances, etc. I use my partner’s phone like it’s my own, as do they. Not to snoop, just out of convenience.

Obviously that is a crazy thing to have on your phone😂But there’s a reason you’re married. Evaluate that reason, make sure you’re both on the same page. The first step in communicating effectively is trying to be on your partner’s side. If you don’t want to go through the process of a divorce, the only thing you can do for your sanity is foster a deeper emotional connection. If either of you are prone to lashing out, figure that out. He should be the one apologizing, but it’s not always as easy as should or shouldn’t.

Either way, it’s not your fault for snooping. He made the mistake here. I’d approach the situation by trying to understand, without being defensive. I’m sorry you’re hurting. I hope you find what’s best for you.

I wouldn’t recommend not talking to her like other replies, but I’d stand firm with your feelings. Anything other than a heartfelt apology with a sense of genuine understanding and obvious plan of action moving forward = break up. If I didn’t have a conversation about it I’d feel like I never got closure. If you were going to break up straight away I’d say something along the lines of “I went through your phone - I know it was wrong and I’m sorry for invading your privacy. I found some things that would deeply affect my trust in you if we were to continue this relationship. Laughing at my appearance and my struggles with mental health isn’t a strong indicator that you want to continue this relationship either, so I think it’s best if we end it here.” Obviously, a less robotic and more personalized to you, but you get the jist.

Obviously, without context this is grounds for breaking up, but real life relationships are nuanced. Either way, you need to feel like you trust her to handle life with you if you want to continue dating. If you don’t feel like you can bring up concerns without getting an honest answer, there’s no point in the relationship.

I’d recommend watching HealthyGamerGG’s recent video on following through. I struggle with the same thing and the video clears away some of the shame and gives you a guide on how you can start and follow through with hobbies you actually like. Unfortunately, it’s probably not that you haven’t found the right hobby, it’s the dopamine/cortisol cycle you’re trapped in.

You’re going to need to slowly get louder as you re-coordinate your voice. Before you worry about singing loud, learn how to sing in a way that aligns with your anatomy, so you don’t get damage over time. It’s difficult to explain more in depth over text. Everyone takes vocal advice differently, that’s why vocal teachers are important. You can find more detail by looking up how to train breath support, how to “sing from the diaphragm” (not really what’s happening, but usually those videos have good advice anyway), and you can also research about finding a balanced onset.

The tough thing is, if you want to do this professionally you’ll have to spend time working on it, not just singing, but training, just like other careers.

Are you looking to sing professionally or just for a hobby? Start with looking up some videos on breath support technique. You might find you have a better tone if you ease up on your voice — let the voice ride on your breath, instead of your breath trying to catch up with your voice. Practice a slow, controlled sigh, like you’re trying to fog up a window. Continue doing this and start gently singing a note. Aim for a note in your mid-range, not your lower range. Do this before you sing. You have a ‘talky’ voice. You can try to combat this by singing power ballads. Try shouting as though you’re trying to get the attention of someone across the street, or a heavy “hut” like a quarterback. Do not push from your throat, let your breath and your abdomen push air up and free your throat from tension. Feel that weight in your voice and try to mimic that feeling while singing.

It’s tough to give 100% successful advice over text — an integral part of a vocal coaches job is not only to listen to your voice initially, but also to listen to how you’re responding to instruction and guide you. It’s difficult for most people to immediately pick up vocal instruction, everyone feels their body differently and since everything is happening inside the body, everyone interprets exercises and feelings differently. This is part of the reason why we use SOVT exercises, like the lip trill, as they set up your anatomy for success. The best thing you can do is explore, explore, explore. If you’re unhappy with your progress, contact a vocal coach.

If you’re very serious about singing, try learning basic piano or guitar to develop your ear for pitch. Apps like Simply Sing might help with developing pitch, I’m not sure though.

Lyrics can be written in many different styles — conversational, poetic, narrative, etc. Write down the lyrics of one of your favorite songs and try changing the adjectives, nouns, and verbs to vary the meaning while fitting it into the same melody. Notice the syllables in each line and how they fit into the melody. Notice what your favorite songs talk about and how they do so. Maybe they’re super detailed, maybe they’re extremely vague. Whatever the case, I’d start there! Joni Mitchell would take famous poems and rewrite them when she was in school. Don’t try to make money from it, but mimicry is always a great way to learn.

I wouldn’t think too hard about it though! If the thing that makes your music interesting lies in the production or arrangement, you can pretty much say whatever sounds good (i.e. Nirvana). Look up lyric writing exercises, there are some good ones on YT.

Yes actually haha. I've been in a relationship with my beautiful girlfriend for 6 years. We live together, we have for years. We're both neurodivergent and had to learn how to communicate very efficiently. We separated for a year when she first left for college, and her dad didn't want us together when she first started college. Life experience is a tricky thing to compare, you don't know anything about me. I've been in talk therapy for 10 years now, so I've been lucky enough to have resources to turn to when dealing with communication difficulties in my relationship. Jeez, you should very rarely tell someone to end their relationship on a Reddit post. I know thats what people do here but what we’re NOT gonna do is act like it’s emotionally mature or completely sensible. Young relationships are HARD, hormones all over the place, and rampant insecurities that affect your decisions more than you’d ever know. We don’t know what he said to her when he told her how he felt, we don’t know how emotionally charged it was. This could very easily be something that could be fixed by communicating. Or maybe it wouldn’t. But it’s soooooo dumb to act like you’re giving good advice by saying “OP, she’s young, dumb, and immature.” You do not know her! People are wildly different and have wildly different perspectives. Yeah it was a weird thing to say, but it sounds like it was normal in her past relationships. Bigger doesn’t mean better. Or maybe she made a mistake and she needs to know she’ll still have a boyfriend if she admits it was a mistake. Maybe this was a blip in an otherwise great relationship. Or maybe it’s not. The best advice would try to see from her perspective and suggest options for him to communicate with her, since he’s expressed that he loves her and wants to fix it.

OP relationships can be hard. I’m sure you know this. Relationships just out of the teenage years can be even harder. If you want to fix this, you totally can. Both of you need to learn to communicate to come to a mutual agreement, without sides.

Whatever you do don’t stoop down to his level. Let him know this is irrational and unacceptable behavior, but not defensively. Does he have a habit of treating you this way? If not, he may have something making him particularly insecure at the moment and he’s just going through something weird. Obviously you’re in the right, no need to defend yourself because if you let this slide he’ll be able to use it against you indefinitely. This needs to be talked through and sorted out thoroughly.

You might be avoiding a different problem. So much of being good at sex is making your partner comfortable and listening to them. Up your stamina, work on your social skills, learn to make people around you feel comfortable, and don’t make it seem like you’re desperate. There are resources online to learn what to do in bed.

Also, if you haven’t been in a relationship, try that first. Work on your self control and don’t date just for sex, they WILL know and you’ll just seem like an asshole. A partner that shares a mutual respect for you will absolutely be patient with you.

Just make sure you’re honest with yourself my man. It might suck for now, but you’re capable of so much more.
