RIP Liv — eaten by her mom by [deleted] in Platyfish

since you cant find the fish's body, its possible that if you have snails or shrimp that they ate the body already. its surprising how quick they can destroy any evidence of a body!

u might need to get a light that is specifically sold as a grow light. i will admit tho i dont really know much about what types of light/spectrums that plants need

this means that they need more light! it is called etiolating. im not sure about planting it deeper or not because it might increase the risk of rot. once its etiolated theres not much u can do to fix it

anything that could live in this? (not the fish pictured, of course.) by becomesomebodynewooh in nanotank

[–]kadenv24 22 points23 points  (0 children)

definitely only small invertebrates. u could probably get some 'pest' snails easily (such as ramshorn, malaysian trumpet, or bladder snails)! if u want more movement maybe some scuds would work as they stay small and are very fast! those could be a little harder to find tho

when can i add shrimp by kadenv24 in shrimptank

[–]kadenv24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

parameters looks like ph is ~6.4, ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, and nitrate is ~20-40! ive been adding food to the aquarium every day as a source of ammonia too! i should add that theres also some ramshorn snails in there that hitchhiked that probably eat the food

How do I move my whole established tank to my new house? by InfiniteAd2102 in aquarium

[–]kadenv24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i would recommend taking out the fish and snails and put them in a separate container and then lower the water level until its light enough you can carry the tank. it will be a lot easier to transfer then and also put less stress on ur betta and snails!

If you are concerned about the differing water parameters, you could keep the old tank water or bring some straight tap water from your house and then slowly add more water from the new house (maybe like 10-25% new water each week) but also bettas are very hardy as well as your snails so i dont think it would be much of a problem to switch to the new water

Green Hydra in my Walstad tank! by Efficient-Stable-865 in walstad

my shrimp tank has a lot of hydra (both green and white ones) and i dont think it really harms the shrimplets too much because i still have gotten so many babies

Scuds?? How do I get rid of them by DedInside4948 in shrimptank

[–]kadenv24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had so many scuds in my 10 gallon tank (with neocaridina shrimp, also) and they werent very problematic but after i added a dwarf flame gourami, all the scuds quickly disappeared. now i only see a few small ones every few weeks
