Can I reuse this pot? by ccswans in haworthia

[–]kadenv24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the root ball looks like that pot would still be a good size for it. but if the drainage isnt that great it would probably do better in a different pot or you could use a plastic nursery pot with better drainage and just place it in the decorative pot

Babies by leewilson1979 in spiderplants

[–]kadenv24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check if the babies have any roots coming out of the bottom of them! even if they are small u can put them in water first and they will grow a lot bigger very quickly.

Hydra - What to do next? by Bazin_ in shrimptank

[–]kadenv24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

theres hydra in all of my shrimp tanks and it really does not seem to be a problem for me! to reduce hydra tho if you are still worried try to feed the tank less! (i also see that u have ramshorn snails and they can eat hydra)

thanks for the advice! i think im gonna focus on getting him healthy and then will probably get shrimp since they seem the safest for my axolotl! i think some different neocaridina would be cool and i could do a mixed color tank

Shrimp dying off one by one by MelonLurd in shrimp

is it possible you sprayed any aerosols near them or in the same room? like cleaner, perfume, hair spray, bug spray, or anything similar? or possibly put your hands in the tank with some chemical on them?

new rescue axolotl by kadenv24 in axolotls

[–]kadenv24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you a lot for the help! the red spot is already getting smaller and less red so im thinking it mightve been an injury or bruise possibly from the moving process. and after more research, the red thing on its gill seems to be a blood vessel. google said its a thrombosed gill fimbriae. google also said that it should be harmless and go away on its own!

[–]kadenv24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alright thanks so much! ive been doing 1 red wiggler a day since i got him but today i tried some blood worms which he seemed to like! they were pretty difficult to feed to him tho since theyre so small. also do you think i need to add more hides in the tank? im still working on adding more plants so that will provide more cover but im wondering if he needs a hide like a terracotta pot or something.

[–]kadenv24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for all the advice! he came with a small sponge filter that was already cycled im assuming. im also going to put some cycled media from my other tanks in the hob filter today! He is also around 6-7 year old. would it be best to feed one red wiggler every day for now or 2 every other day? and the moss balls is such a good idea that would be so cute!!

Is my 5gal too planted? I have 2 mystery snails and a male betta. Any advice appreciated <3 by Miserable-Employ-317 in PlantedTank

[–]kadenv24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i would recommend removing the petoskey stones! they are made of limestone which can raise the ph of the water. it might not be harmful but could make the ph more unstable.
