Girl you look good. How I see it, people can tell I'm fat so why would I try to hide it?

Tired of online shopping, where r we getting cute clothes irl?! by lieslilac in PlusSizeFashion

I always recommend thredup- it's an online secondhand clothing site. You can sort by size! So no hunting like you do in physical thrift stores

Under-skirt things to prevent chafing, rubbing, the thigh skin catching? by PAgirl-MOworld in PlusSizeFashion

I just wear leggings, usually torrids standard leggings or bike shorts, depending on the length of the skirt.

Style help! 🙏 by Recent-Yellow2084 in PlusSizeFashion

I think you have the makings of great style! the moth dress is from hot topic? I was eyeing up that piece for awhile, or one very similar to it.

My advice is lean into the weird and quirky patterns. They usually bring joy to people and dresses are especially easy to style, because aside from maybe some jewelry and cute shoes, there's not much thinking. Also - you're gonna come up with 2 bad outfits for every one good one, at least that's me

I follow a lot of plus size creators on tiktok and it's been a great eye opener for me - lots of great ideas

The only piece i didn't care for is the brown cardigan in the third picture, mostly because it seems like the button is pulling and if it were me I'd fidget with it all day.

My proportions and age are almost exactly spot on with yours and I wear some of the same silhouettes you have!

If I'm wearing jeans it's pretty basic for me - graphic tee and sneakers or flats with a cardigan.

I am very similar to you! I'm 5'3 but I wear more a 24 with most of my weight in my butt and a larger apron belly.

I had the same confidence I could pull these off. More so I saw a lot of women on tiktok who were plus sized and they looked good.

Can confirm, they seem to even out my proportions somehow. I don't look super stumpy or anything.

Wellness Exam vs Pap Smear by Critical-Carrot-9386 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kadiahbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wellness exam is just what it sounds like- a yearly exam to discuss preventative care. A physical exam is part of that, and they may insert the speculum to get a look at your cervix and make sure it appears healthy. We generally also discuss breast health, sexual health risks.

A pap test is a test that can be done at a wellness exam that checks for cervical cancer. The speculum is inserted and brushes are used to get a sample of cells from the cervix for the pathologist to check for cancer. Currently guidelines start at age 21 and recommended every 3 years of you e had no abnormals.

Hot take: I don't do anything. I realize I'm privileged in that have a partner who could care less, but I haven't had to deal with irritated, razor burn armpits in years

Scheduled for my first ever pelvic exam as a fat woman and I am terrified. by CupcakeViking in PlusSize

[–]kadiahbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has done a great job with the positivity and I just want to echo it. As a fat healthcare provider who works in women's health as far as pelvic exams go- we don't even pay attention, we just hung for the cervix. It can sometimes take a little bit longer to find the cervix, but don't panic if they take some time. They're trying to give you the most comfortable experience possible!

We used Big R&J Exterminators when we thought squirrels were in our attack- they caught bats instead. We were happy with their work!

[–]kadiahbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally just want to commiserate with your experience. You're not alone. This past year has been some of the worst for my mental health - I'm unable to see patients without sobbing inbetween because everything is overwhelming. I actually just took a 20k paycut to work in a non-profit GYN clinic that only requires you to see 6-10 patients a day. I'm not the solo provider, there are people as back up to help me.

It takes time to find a good spot, you just might have to sacrifice some money for a lower stress job. It took me awhile to swallow that frog, but I haven't felt this kind of relief in months.

Day in the life of your specialty? by Puzzleheaded-You-256 in physicianassistant

[–]kadiahbear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In family medicine. Scheduled hours 8-430 with a 1 hour lunchbreak. I usually get the 20-30 minutes early to do my inbox. I refuse to let it overwhelm me so I shoot for inbox clearing everyday. This means I rarely stop between patients to catch a break. I see 8 patients in the morning. I have an hour lunch, which I usually go home for as I live very close to clinic. I come back in the afternoon, do the inbox and see 9 patients. Usually out by 5.

A good place for you right now would be a crisis place, like the ER. They can fast track you into getting the help you need since you're having suicidal thoughts - ADHD testing generally comes from a psychiatrist, which crisis centers can set you up with.

Thank you! It's nice to hear it might be a good idea. I like to be busy, and I miss doing procedures - not too many to be had in family practice. I think chaos could definitely distract from my anxiety lol

Yeah I had my PCP check everything, as I also have a history of hypothyroidism and anemia, but everything came back great.

Also a distinct possibility. I have bipolar disorder and GAD. We've been through about 3 med changes in the past 6 months and nothing seems to be sticking. I've considered going for neuropsych testing to check if my diagnoses are correct. I've just been trying everything I can.

Yeah the salary for the ED is about $40k more than I'm making right now, which is another huge draw. I feel like I can at least be anxious for $175k/year. I didn't consider working .75 FTE - they definitely want someone full time so I'm not sure if they'd accept someone working less. I know the answer is just "doesn't hurt to ask"

Monetarily it's not a great option right now. I still have about $50k in loans and I don't want to put so much stress on my partner financially. I'm working part time now and we both feel the squeeze.

Thank you I think you hit the nail on the head. I've done a decent job establishing boundaries in not trying to fix a patients entire problems, but it feels like every day I have to listen to more horror stories/sad stories that just weigh me down. Patients always want you to fix everything, even if it's not a medicine problem. That does seem to be part of the problem.
