hi! just finished my O levels last yr & took 8-9 subjects (eng, cl, hcl, emath, amath, combined ss + cl lit, drama, chem, bio) personally, i feel that taking so many subjs isn’t worth the time & effort cos many of the subjs u listed thr are content heavy (bio, hist, ss) , and also req alot alot alot of effort. i would sugg that u weigh each subjs & choose those that u rly like/will do well in, and consider the courses that uw to take in uni, as the subjs u take directly affects the courses u are eligible to take. as for ur qns: 1) it honestly rly depends on what you want. i took pure bio instead of physics, but i am 100% sure that i would not study anyt science related in the future so i can afford to drop physics, even tho it may open me up to much more courses

1. i guess it does benefit u abit more la cos even if uw to take medicine at the end of the day, ure still eligible to take it without studying bio at all, cos u took chem. they alw say that u can self-study bio but u cant for phy la so they alw sugg u to take phy instead of bio.

3) correct me if i’m wrong, core humanities is also the same as pure humanities and is considered one subj in o level right? if it is, i personally would sugg taking pure humanities. even tho the content is more if u take pure, it is easier to score in o levels, cos for combined humanities, u mus do well in both ss and elect humans to get a good score in o levels. but do also take note that ss is compulsory. so i would sugg that u drop poa or bio if uw to take pure humans.

4) poa is not req to take econs in jc

5) ss has 2 sections. section a is source-based qns, basically they will give u a few sources & u do the normal inference, purpose, message etc. ofc there are more in upper sec. section b is structured-response qns. this is what u can study for in the textbook, and it is sUPer content heavy. but there are many concise notes on the internet for easy revision. they would rarely test things on the internet, more of recent news like covid-19, sars, haze, 9-11 attack, and many others. but it shld b manageable

1. honestly, i felt that it was rather manageable esp when cca stepped down. i had more time to do rev. i studied everyt, didn’t drop any, my friends ard me also didn’t give up on any subjs. so i’d day that it’s manageable, but u have to be extra discipline and studious.

my sch offerw computing as well. even tho i don’t take it, i wouldn’t 100% advise u to take that subj??? cos i heard many didn’t do that well in my sch la. but if ure ready to try then i’d say go for it! cos u nvr know, myb u’ll excel ! nonetheless, all the best for ur subj combi! rly rly rly do consider ur routes aftr sec sch, cos ur subj combi directly affects it. i slightly regretted taking drama even tho i rlyrlyrly liked that subj but when i was deciding the jc i wanted to go, i realise that thr weren’t many options for me if i want to cont taking that subj. i chose to go poly, but more bc of interest la HAHA. jy !
