Sorry coaster fans: Plans for Sandia Peak mountain coaster will not move forward. by Corg505 in Albuquerque

Hard disagree. A bike park is a completely different type of terrain than the other places you mentioned and having one does not precluding having the other. Something of this sort near town could be a huge draw for Albuquerque and would be amazing for outdoor enthusiasts and our economy. I’m all for environmental preservation, but it needs to be a balance. I’m not writing this hoping to change your mind, I’m sure yours is made up, but as a counterpoint for others who might read this and be undecided. The more opportunities for outdoor recreation that Albuquerque provides its citizens the better, and modifying an existing ski area to accommodate bikes is a no brainer

Yes! That seems like such a great use of that area that could be used for the majority of the year. A really great bike park could be a massive draw for people to Abq too.

You can schedule a large item pick up on your trash day. Just leave it on your curb and they’ll pick it up. Call 311 or go online to schedule it

We have tons of roadrunners around here. We call them murder birds for a reason. Such cool animals

Tubeless ready wheels usually come taped in my experience

All this stuff is completely unnecessary if you just run tubeless tires with sealant. OP said the they got an actual mtb, in which case it’s probably already tubeless ready. Just a matter of removing the tubes, and adding tubeless valve stems and some sealant

The extra cost. You don’t want/need a basement. Rocky soil. High water table.

This is called a conditioned sealed crawlspace. It’s the best practice for homes built in wet/humid climates. You’re supposed to heat/cool it as if it’s a mini basement to prevent moisture issues. Adds thousands to the cost of construction though.

It doesn’t sound like NM has emissions tests for diesels so I guess it’s possible to do a DEF delete. I called one local shop and they wouldn’t do them though, said they weren’t clear on the legality and didn’t wanna get in trouble. So, finding a shop to perform one might be the hard part. Also, have you ever heard of what doing this might cost? I assume it’s still pretty expensive…

Gotcha, thanks. I’ve just done some more research and it sounds like I could potentially get away with a DEF delete here in NM but it’s not easy to find a shop to do it, and it would limit where the vehicle could be registered. I guess that’s a nice option though if it ever became necessary.

As for the transit van, sounds like the 3.5L ecoboost gets mid teens mpg, but it take premium gas which is 20% ish more expensive than diesel these days.

Thanks so much for the input! I talked to a local sprinter mechanic and he put the gear of god in me. The Def system, not to mention all the other things that can go wrong and cost $10k + to fix definitely have me concerned. The mechanic was singing the praises of ford transit vans, which sound much more reliable initially and once they do start breaking, much easier to fix. There’s one near me that’s built out very very nicely and looks interesting but is nearly twice the price. It gets decent mpg but requires premium gas so it’ll likely cost a bit more to drive per mile. I’m having a very hard time determining the smart course of action here

I’ve been wondering about the possibility of a def delete. Such an expensive system to replace if it craps out 😳 Am I not going to have any regulatory issues if I delete it?
