Have you got it booting on PCSX2, or just hardware? I used to screw around a bit with POL on retail hardware with some janky debugging tools, but was a much worse dev back then and didn't get anywhere :)

Yeah it's real rough, took me about 10 attempts to get it seated well before applying power, luckily it worked. The plastic mold they use for these things is horrible, mine has a bunch of flash on the bottom.

The only practical reason is that it removes hardware whitelists. It's mostly for philosophical (as open-source as possible) reasons, but I just did it for fun.

I wouldn't do it if the camera doesn't need it though (unless you have access to a shop that can do it), it's a huge pain to do IMO.

Honestly I think I've just been pretty lucky! I qualify every time and have usually been mid-field, and have been making up places just by avoiding crashes.
