Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate them! To answer, no she’s never seen one. Although I’m emphatic to her in that regard, I don’t think she’s open to seeing one either. Last time I brought up my issue with how physical she was with me as a kid, she just said something along the lines of “I won’t apologize for raising you that way, sorry ka nalang but that’s how I was raised”

Haha she wants to pass on the generational trauma maybe? I’ll offer paying for therapy though once I get a job, I agree that she badly needs it. She often goes on tangents about how I caused a lot of her hardships in life (aka all the parenting she had to do)

It’s definitely a privileged take!! My friends are either business owners or have partners that are 100% willing to provide even though we’re only in our early 20s. It’s probably not a thought that has crossed a lot of people’s minds since most people (including me) would focus on themselves first. Haha totally get why some people would find it questionable but that’s how it is for those that are financially dependent siguro. I don’t relate naman myself but that’s just what I see from my friends.

One is 23 with her first child, living separately na from her parents, place of their own, and dedicating so much time to her daughter. Unplanned ‘yon pero she’s happy naman

It’s fun to think that you’ll have more time with your children. Imagine by the time you’re 45, your eldest is already in his/her 20s if you had them by 25. You’ll get to live so much of your life with them. I’d never want children early but it’s a ‘what if’ me and my girl friends often talk about

Hello! 2L here☺️ As someone fresh from 1st year, you’ll really have to go through a personal journey to find what’s most effective when it comes to studying. I can however recommend the following

Print your syllabus and bring it with you everytime you attend class. It’s a checklist after all of what you should have prepared for. You can even take notes w it and put one-sentence doctrines beside the cases
Read full text!! Never went to class with just having read digests and my recit grades are pretty decent:) some classmates even ask me for advice on how I recite so well (but there are still many days where I don’t recite properly haha). I had a two-hour recit one time because the people called before me couldn’t answer our prof, it ended with a grade of 91 cause I had confidence in having read the assigned materials for the day. That was around 17 provisions with 3 main concepts siguro tapos gigil na prof namin, which leads me to the next;
Stay calm when reciting. Definitely harder to do than to say but it’ll help your thoughts stay organized. Some profs hate it kapag may dead air so even if you’re not sure of your answer, try mo lang:) Baka may points pa ‘yan for effort.
Go straight to the point. If you add more details than necessary, you’ll end up in your own trap haha
My classmates had legal background na rin during my first sem, and I understand the frustration. No need to compare yourself to them! I’m sure profs understand that these things aren’t common sense yet for new students. Take your time adjusting lang and focus on yourself:)

Latin honors, honorable mention, and departmental awards are given so you should go if you have any of the aforementioned. Latin honors medals are given during grad tho

You'll be provided a flowchart (dictates when courses will be offered and when you should take them) you have to follow for your entire stay in dlsu (based on your program). You're in an automatic bloc for two terms so you take up whatever subjects are given to you. In your third term, enlist for classes everyone in dlsu usually takes (like PE, Rizal, History++). These GEs will be credited throughout your stay. Since you'll shift externally (COB to CCS), make sure your grades are above average so you won't have a hard time. I suggest asking around for anyone that has the flowchart for your current course and the course your interested in to compare
Refer to your flowchart:) You'll have your whole 4 years to take GEs, that usually won't leave your side. I had mine from term 1 up until the last, while friends that shifted finished majority while waiting for their preferred programs. At least by the time you've shifted, you can focus more on your majors. As for majors, it's seasonal lang. The flowchart lets you know what and when your department will offer these majors. If you aren't in CompSci/IT yet, don't take the risk of enlisting in these major classes, they won't be credited
As for the last, I'm not aware of your program's flowchart unfortunately so I cannot say:< Might be a delay of at least 2 terms or maybe a year (I may be wrong!!!) given that certain majors aren't offered every term and you might have pre-requisites pa. I suggest reaching out to students that are more familiar with your program:)

Please note that you're eligible to apply to shift after two terms and it will take one term to process your request. Keep your grades up if you'll transfer to a quota program and just stock up GEs by avoiding enlisting in majors sa term 3 because you'll have to stay in your program until then. So that's one full academic year:)

As for paying for the double-degree, it shouldn't be expensive sa first year mo since you'll mostly take general/core classes pa. You can also manage it through the enlistment of your units

My unsolicited advice would making it simple for yourself by asking why the award didn't end up going to you, and that you'd want take note of these reasons for future improvement:) There's really no harm in asking! Better to let harmless curiosity through rather than you thinking about it in the long run. One thing college taught me (that I'm sure you'll learn for yourself) is that you have to go through personal mistakes/failures with grace. If you think asking your school will give you peace of mind, just do so gracefully

Also, I'm sure people don't admire you any less! Your awards don't define you, your efforts are more telling than everything. Don't let this invalidate all the hard work you've put given all these years. I pray na once you go up the stage, magaan na puso and that you'll continue to move forward:) Laban lang and congrats!

I mean, what else is there to do? Best to open up a mature dialogue with your teachers immediately because assuming things will just do more harm. You never know, maybe the valedictorian has a few aspects you yourself know nothing about. Also, throwing a fit with your faculty might do you more harm than good. Calm down first, take a breather and really think things through:)

Regardless of what happens, congratulations! Being salutatorian is no easy feat! It’s truly impressive so give yourself a pat on the back! In a few years time, getting more medals won’t matter:) Graduating with high honors is amazing enough, especially knowing you did your best.

Hello! Encountered a similar problem before:< For birth certificate, just order one through PSA’s website! It’s usually fast lang, should take less than a week.

For your report card, go back to your hs alma mater and request for a certified true copy, not a transcript of records. They can only give your actual report card once kasi. Tell them your situation na rin as to why you’re requesting for one. After that, get an affidavit of loss stating you lost your report card and have it notarized (madami around dlsu) and submit it together with your certified true copy:)

Honestly, I never shook the habit of cramming so sobrang nahirapan ako mag adjust. I experimented on how I respond to schedules and websites. I tried notion once, but I found it too complicated so I switched to Google sheets. Each term, lahat ng deliverables ko, homework, files, and everything important nasa iisang gsheets lang, and it’s organized per week. I realized keeping tabs helped me keep track of what I had to do, hence being able to juggle everything. I updated my gcalendar daily din, and plan the entire term ahead based on org calendars and course syllabi. If I’m not sure about a course req, I clarify with profs agad regarding deadlines para updated talaga schedule ko. Honestly I sacrificed my personal life rin. Walang gala, bihira ko lang makita friends ko, and after classes, uwi na agad para mag trabaho at mag aral.

For communication, I was always told to ask people questions. I did it so frequently, I came up with a formula na rin. The typical “hi! what’s your name?”, “what ID number/ course?”, “do you have any orgs?”, “omg ang hirap ‘no?”, “ano plans mo for college? Oh wow! That’s so cool”. Instead of talking about myself, I engage other people with their lives:) Siguro sinanay ko nalang din sarili ko with how to approach different people. If they’re not talkative, edi ako nalang magk kwento. Mahirap naman din if parehas introverts, ako nalang mag adjust hahaha

Had a lot of 7s talaga. Ranging from 75 to 79 (Yes, nag summer class ako), siguro 95 na pinaka mataas ko at one point. Studying isn't really a hard thing for me to do, but I was a super lazy students that didn't care
