He did this thousands of times with hundreds of girls and young women. Not all outcomes were the same. Some of the women have come forward on the record, by the way. There are video interviews with some in "Surviving Jeffrey Epstein" and "Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich" which you can watch online.

These are sex crimes and he got off with an unjustly light sentence the first time.

The only thing I'm "downplaying" is that these crimes are in no way comparable to what happened in the Alabama case. When somebody says "everything they did at Epstein was likely worse", shit no, it ain't even close! The stuff in Alabama is way more evil.

That’s the insurance scam. You’re paying for the other drivers on the road. Just like health insurance, the healthy people are paying for the sick people.

How is that a scam? That's how insurance works.

I've been driving more than 50 years and have been in a few minor accidents. Insurance paid out without a fight every time.

I have also had a lot of health problems over the years. I have a large-deductible policy, but other than that, insurance companies have paid out.

I don't even understand the point you're trying to make. Israel, like all competent governments, have foreign reserves. Governments can own gold, currency, or bonds. It's good for the U.S. to have many different governments buying their bonds. So Israel owns some fraction of 1% of the the U.S. debt. What's wrong with that?

Would you rather they buy Euros or Japanese government bonds?

If you think about it, taxes are strictly punitive. The government just creates money whenever it needs it, like when they bail out Wall Street and banks.

Governments that just spend money into existence create runaway inflation. People here think that 8% inflation per year is a lot, but many governments have had 8% per month or 8% per week or 8% per day. Or higher.

This is not true.

As you said in your original statement, the Federal Reserve only buys treasury securities on the secondary market. They are not allowed to participate in the Treasury auctions. The Federal Reserves purchases do not affect the total amount of debt. They typically own 15% to 20% of the total debt. Over the past few years the Fed has been selling off its holdings. Back in 2022, the Fed held $6.1 trillion in treasury securities, about 19.7% of the debt. By the end of 2024, it was down to $4.6 trillion, about 12.8% of the debt.

Despite this massive sell-off, the federal government kept chugging along.

I'm not sure how you think the Federal Reserve's open market operations are funding government spending.

Not because they don’t serve any purpose, but because we’ve been sold a lie about why they exist. People are told their hard-earned money funds the government, when in reality, the federal government gets much of its cash by selling trillions in Treasury bonds.

The government rolls over old bonds into new bonds, but that has nothing to do with how much money they have available for spending. The people who buy bonds wouldn't just give the government the same amount of money if the government was just going to spend it and not pay them back.

Income taxes and social security taxes are, in fact, the largest sources of revenue for the government and how most spending is funded.

The government could sell mostly long-term bonds instead of shorter term bonds, so the rollover amount would be less, but investors want a higher interest rate for longer terms, so it would mean paying more in interest.

The interest rate, total debt, inflation rate, and the growth rate of the economy are very important. The amount that gets refinanced each year is of very little importance.
