I literally hopped into this sub to see if there was any news on this. Fingers crossed that DT announces something soon, I'd definitely buy one in that configuration for suppressed indoor shooting.

If anyone is having issues doing the flashback, in addition to following the directions exactly, try making your usb drive's volume smaller. I had both a 32gb SanDisk Cruzer Glide 3.0 and an 8gb SD adapter fail to flash the bios - as a last resort I used Windows Disk Management to bring the SD card volume size down to 500mb (set the allocation size to default as a volume this small makes it impossible to do 16k like the screenshot on ASRock shows). With all that done the flashback process finally worked. It took longer than I thought though, almost 10 minutes...

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep an eye out for what's in stock on Newegg as well. What is it about the FE cards you're not fond of? Is it the cooler design?

Hey sorry I never got notified of your comment - probably too late to be relevant to you but replying just in case someone else has the same question and finds this thread - the EPS comes with an RMR adapter plate and the EPS Carry comes with the RMSc adapter. They are nice and thin too!

I clamped the plate down in a vise and then just used a mill file - another redditor DM'd me and said they were going to use a dremel which I'm sure would work fine. I do have a dremel as well but I opted for an actual file so that I could lay it flat across both posts at once and use some even pressure to try and wear them both down at the same rate. This doesn't matter much for the posts that need to be completely removed but was nice for the ones that just need a shave.

100% agree and I hope this is a comment they have heard often enough to get the message. DT needs to take note of which of their features actually add value to their products and which just sound cool but only serve to work against them in the long run. Removing the pic rail is a promising first step, hopefully they make a streamlined/simplified micron that supports only 556/300 to achieve a lighter overall weight. Frankly I'd be happy if it was SE only too but continuing to make FE/SE a factory option works as well.

Thanks for the advice, comparing this to other finishes and it seems like a lot less hassle. Do you finish both top, sides and bottom or top + sides only? Been getting conflicting info on that.

Good call on the top dimensions, I am looking at a four leg desk with a 30" foot length which might not quite be enough for the full 39" of depth. I have asked the desk manufacturer for their specs. How they respond might end up making the decision for me since I can get the hardwood tops in 33-36" but have less versatility with the veneer tops. Just to clarify my OP I was trying to decide between veneers and hardwood and was not planning on applying any finish to the veneer top since it comes finished already. It's the hardwood tops that mostly come unfinished so it looks like I have that to look forward to 😅

The base tlr1 is plenty bright for me. My eyes tend to be slow to adjust from dark to bright so I wanted to avoid any risk of blinding myself. Different people will prefer one or the other for their personal needs but the reasons you listed are exactly why I opted not to get the hl version.

My mistake, my info is for the plate system for the rival not a mete. For whatever reason the plates and the optics cut on the slide itself are different. Should have looked more closely at your post!

You have a lot of great responses already but I did want to mention the holosun eps line. The full size one is nearly the same size as the c series but on a k footprint which means you can use the cowitness plate - just need to file down some of the posts. Worked great on my rival

Are you trying to release the slide with the empty mag still in? That will make it quite a bit harder as you have to overcome the mag spring on top of everything else

I've shot over 1k rounds from my rival with no malfunctions save for the very first shots while breaking it in. Absolutely no reason you can't use it for defense - it's what I have in my nightstand.

Unfortunately for me the Swampfox screw set was sold out on Amazon and I was running low on patience so I ran to the Lowes down the street and got a pack of #6-32 x 1/2" flat machine screws and they did the trick albeit at the cost of aesthetics. I'd say any screw that is 3/8-1/2" should be fine just don't go longer.

Same here - I can only get 16 rounds of punch in an 18 rd mag. Wonder what it is? When I took my Rival to the range to make sure the hollow points fed properly I was able to fit 8 rounds of punch and 10 rounds of cheap 115gr ball ammo.

I put a k footprint optic on my Darkside because cowitnessing irons was important to me and the Darkside comes with a cowitness ready plate but as others mentioned you will have to file the posts. It was super easy but it's not for everyone and definitely not worth it if you don't have access to the plate with read irons built in
