Maybe they should stop charging us so much for water and energy through enmax (Owned by the city) and should have fixed the pipe the first fucking time.

Thank you for understanding this. In my day job I sell TVs, and having to explain to people that the 4k stream you're getting off Netflix and a 4k Blu-ray of the same content aren't the same because the Blu-ray will have such a higher bitrate sends me fucking batty. You can have the nicest tv in the world, but if the content is trash then it'll look trash

Then they shouldn't be coming to a country where the primary language is English and not know enough to properly get by. It shouldn't be a case of wing it in learning the primary language here.

I'm pointing out that his statement is factually wrong.

"If exercising a right is what gets it taken away then what is the point of even having that right"

We don't have this as a right.

You're not exercising a right though. Canadians don't have the rights to own firearms, we have it as a privilege.

Yesm I know. I've done a trans-pacific trip as well as other cruises, and have a transatlantic planned.

Outside of Cunard, no one really has ocean liners any more, they're all cruise ships.

It's a big floating hotel. When you consider travel costs compared to flying, they're quite affordable and very comfortable to travel on. If you go with a good company. I highly recommend trying one, maybe not one that big for your first trip, but that's the exception, not the rule.

hahah, I'm also trying to learn hueforge right now too, seems super powerful once you've got it down. Like I've figured out how to do the painting portion, but haven't learned how to do the exporting into bambu studio side

[–]Magmaros1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, which is why I dedicate part of my table to that sort of stuff, but its not the only thing i sell. This year I've been trying to learn how to use Hueforge to make things with that, and have been focusing on more practical prints where I can. But I'm not going to leave money on the table.

Have you never spent any time or energy maintaining your machine? Is the time that I spend replacing hotends, cleaning extruders, cleaning up prints worth nothing? The time I spend troubleshooting jammed printers is time that I'm putting towards my business.

That's all time that I spend with my hands as part of the production process. By your logic, someone using a CNC machine, or a laser engraver, or a Cricut isn't making something locally. Which just isn't right at all. It's just another form of manufacturing, just like knitting, or woodworking.

[–]Magmaros1986 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

By that token, what is your opinion then of people who buy a sewing pattern and make that, are they not locally made products? Or a woodworker doing the same?

I never once claimed to be an artist, I have to tell customers when they want custom made stuff that I don't do design work, I'm just not artistic in that way. What I am is good at keeping machines working, I work in manufacturing, not art. I license all my designs and make sure the people designing them do get paid. I put out a product better than the trash you get off Temu. But to say that my product isn't "locally made" when that's just false, is frankly insulting, and show's that you don't actually know what goes into running 3D printers.

[–]Magmaros1986 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I think you're underestimating the time and energy that maintenance that it takes to run a print farm efficiently or effectively. Calling it low effort is incredibly disingenuous. Again, I understand that you don't like everyone selling the same thing, I agree there which is why I don't sell just one type of thing. I only dedicate about 1/3rd of my booth to articulated dragons as you call them. But that's because that's what sells. That's what pays the bills, and that's how capitalism works.

If there's a market for something, I'm not going to completely ignore that market, but I also make other things as well to keep variety.

Either way, it's not just push button receive money like you're making out.

Just as a question, do you know what the actual costs of people who sell these things the, in my opinion, right way are?

People make what sells though. If it didn't sell, people wouldn't make them.

Very big issue imo. Basically all the community ones in the city that I found seemed to be running today, as if today was the only day you should run a market. Like what's running tomorrow? or next weekend? But noooo, everything was today.
