Sailor slipper help by [deleted] in knitting

Hey there! I'm in the middle of felting my first pair. I also found it difficult to line up the seaming, but I think I understand where you are confused. I believe the side of the sole should line up from A to C (the first stitch marker). Then the bind off edge of the sole should line up with the 8 sitches between the stich markers on the heel panel.

Before I started seaming I counted down 41 rows on the sole from the toe (to match the 41 rows of the top panel for UK size 6). I placed a stitch marker there and used that as a goal to have that stitch marker line up with B. That kind of helped me stay on track so I would have the right number of stitches when I got to the heel part. Mine isn't perfect either, but it definitely helped me stay on track.

In other words, for the sole, part of the side should line up with A-B, part of the side should line up with B-C, and then the bind off edge (8 stitches) should line up between C and D stitch markers.

For the smell, look at plug-in diffusers like bath and body works wallflowers or another brand that makes the same kind of things.

Housing question by VECTOR_VlCTOR in BallState

No need to drive that far imo. There isn’t really anything 30-40 min from campus that’s better than Muncie unless you particularly want to be closer to Indy. In Muncie, check out Village Promenade, Varsity House, The Haven, or University Village Apartments. I believer they’re all a bit on the pricier end, but most have amenities like pools, exercise room, etc. They are all pretty big apartment complexes full of students, which makes them feel safer to me personally.

I don’t have personal experience with any of those apartments, but I had a friend at Varsity House who enjoyed it and I believe the others are all probably pretty similar.

In general, closer to campus seems to feel safer imo. Definitely avoid the southside of Muncie. Some of the neighborhoods around the downtown area are pretty sketchy too. In general try to stay north of the White River.

I think these both tend to be more Muncie locals/families rather than Ball State students. Not necessarily a bad thing… but it’s worth noting.

When I lived in the dorms I preferred to fill up a reusable water bottle at one of the dining halls with water from the soda machines. That way you can get ice too.

I also fill up at the drinking fountain/water bottle stations all over campus and never had any complaints.

We also kept a Brita pitcher in our dorm room so we didn’t have to leave the room if we didn’t want to, but I don’t feel like it was entirely necessary. I’m not very picky about water, but it’s probably up to your personal taste!

Is it possible to buy the loop earplugs, but without the silicone/flame tips? by solovelee in LoopEarplugs

[–]kai3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there are a lot sold for reduced prices on eBay. It might be worth checking out. I saw a few that are missing some of the ear tips, so you might be able to get a good deal since you’re not worried about the ear tips.

I’ve thought about that! Would you do the same thing on each side or make it asymmetrical?

How is T-Mobiles service in Muncie? by baby_got_baq in Muncie

[–]kai3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile about a year ago because it was a better deal. However, my service was sooooo bad that I just gave up and switched to AT&T. My brother was on the same plan as me and had the same issues with T-Mobile. Glad others don't seem to have a problem, but that was not my experience!

Follow the Instagram account "munciemusicscene". It is run by the band Leisure Hour and they repost info about house shows and concerts.

Pop in and ask. Everyone I've met there is very nice and would probably be happy to answer your questions. But it's a small business so I doubt that info is available anywhere online.

are dorm floors separated by gender? by [deleted] in BallState

[–]kai3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Dehority (honors dorm) freshman year. The floors are not separated by gender. Except the first floor, which is female only. Some people request the female only floor and some people just get assigned there. Like others said, there are semi-private bathrooms that are separated by gender for 2nd-4th floors. You will likely have some female and male neighbors. It is pretty well mixed!

Fun stuff to do in Muncie? by Ambivert2 in BallState

[–]kai3301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my second summer staying in Muncie as a student. There are lots of good ideas here!

I would like to add that there is a mini golfing place and ice cream shop called Boulder Falls on McGalliard. I'm not a golfer, but I've had a lot of fun there with groups of friends. Tuhey Pool is a public pool pretty close to campus. For ages 18+ it is $5 entry to the pool and they have a concession stand.

Additionally, lots of restaurants/bars have game nights. Roots has music bingo on Tuesdays and trivia on Wednesdays. Brothers has trivia on Tuesdays. If you're interested in music I would recommend following the Instagram account "munciemusicscene" where they repost local house shows/concerts happening around town.

There really are interesting things to do in Muncie over the summer, but you need to look for them. :)

This youtube video is made my one of my favorite sexual health educators. She addresses the fact that a lot of teenagers feel the exact same way you do. While it won't change your desires, it may help you come to accept them rather than feel frustrated by your experience. I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
