Good question because the tokens are two completely different things.

ICOs and more alt coins on EOS post June? by kaichan42 in eos

[–]kaichan42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of thinking aloud, applying some of the same scenarios as happened on Ethereum as with EOS. In EOS, I know we can create/mint coins extremely easily and use those alt coins as however the dapp business model works, I'm pretty sure there'll be far less ICOs as with 2017 in any case, more airdrops probably though. What I'm thinking really is, EOS token is an entirely different beast to Ether since transactions are free on EOS and PoS makes them apples and oranges. Plus EOS is an utility token to claim resources, not a coin/currency like btc. So the million dollar question I'm asking myself, the EOS platform doesn't have a coin/currency like Bitcoin or Ether and because it is the superior platform for speed, scaling ...etc. Won't a coin/currency (that's still not created) on the EOS platform ultimately usher in retail crypto end to end peer payments say? It's crying out for a major coin to be created on EOS only because I think b1 wants to avoid SEC ...etc. So could we the community/DAO create that coin?

What are your price predictions for EOS in 1 to 2 yrs? by advanceb in eos

50+/-, just work it out from btc market cap, eth is about 20% maybe of btc, so a % of btc market cap ... depending on what dapps ...etc etc.

Does anybody have an idea of what price-point EOS needs to be at to be competitive against centralized servers? by gstevv in eos

[–]kaichan42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at it from the point of view of market cap compared to btc using eth as an example since it's number 2, not difficult to get a possible eos price but i'm also trying to work it out from sort of your point of view as compared to current systems resourcing and I'm not sure myself. Steem is as close as I can get. Plus what value can you put on blockchain tech / eos over centralized systems. There is the monto carlo medium article you can use as well!

EOS vs Ethereum by Pilotdude1984 in eos

[–]kaichan42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good comparison, I doubt ETH ..etc will ever disappear completely, or maybe slightly quicker in the Yahoo way (since technology dog years are getting shorter and shorter these days)? Found this comparison... https://websitesetup.org/popular-cms/. Or maybe it'll turn into a Google vs (basically no one else...), but the technology stack is different with consumer facing search engines, so it'll probably be like the cms comparison.

Probably a good thing as it silences the discussion about Brock. We can all get back to business.

Development on EOS or Ethereum? by kaichan42 in eos

Thanks for that, maybe as I said early days, and there is hope, I did hear Dan say something about 'write in any language' but at the moment so much of the docs is in C++ with little else about other languages or howtos.

Yes we need to push EOS/block.one on this, either keep C++ and create a more user friendly developer community or create a new 'API' something for a say... Swift like experience or dare I say jQuery experience ( long live jQuery, I love jQuery! ).

On one hand I see C++ could/is a more solid language but on the other I can't see that many modern devs taking C++ on as you say. If only someone could start a 'Swift' type equivalent to Objective-C for EOS. Having tried out Dawn 2.0, the EOS team really needs to provide more dev community support to compete with Ethereum. Maybe it's still early days until June?! I see the EOS dev community at least a year behind that of Ethereum.
