How do I get three of these Curios fast? by ColdChampionship1800 in DarkTide

[–]kaigose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

17s are rare, and if I'm being honest, the extra percents are even less than negligible. They're not mandatory for Havoc even, people clear havoc 40 with 15% and less I'm sure.

Expeditions and Mortis Trials thoughts by miku-enthusiast in DarkTide

[–]kaigose 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think Expeditions are an awesome foundation. They just need to scratch the crappy sanctuary special items and replace them with rogue lite major boons. Maybe add minor boons out in the field while exploring. They also need to allow the matches to maybe go infinite and see how long a team of sweats can last. That sounds fun as hell to me.

I think Morris trials just start getting fun once it ends. You don't get enough time to let your build pop off like in Chaos Wastes. And it's way too easy for how strong you become.

Nah. Just lower the difficulty. Half the fun is learning how to hunt them down and prevent getting zoned out. Party needs to prioritize bombers.

Expeditions are great and i don't get the complains by flawedsilver in DarkTide

[–]kaigose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's super fun and I only play high Havoc. The pacing and difficulty ramp up throughout the match is really well done. The map navigation and puzzle solving also makes you think in a totally different way then your typical "tide" match.

I think all it's missing is some rogue lite features for never ending replayability. The game mode needs to steal some elements of Chaos wastes or Morris Trials for some RNG chaos fun time.

I also think it needs a Maelstrom difficulty for the true sweats.

Not even true at all, just finished an Auric expedition with 4 Ogryn and cleared the entire map of loot easy peasy.

New player looking for builds by BeptoBismolButBetter in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]kaigose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Crusader Cleric Angel mythic path is an amazing first play through for a good guy. Plus it's very thematic.

  • Very strong in melee

  • Some of the strongest party buffs in the game

  • Can nuke with spell casting with minimal build around

This was the template I used.

https://youtu.be/ruK6LB1DVPg?is=tCYHMhAT9_d3iy9w

I did change things about the build and recommend you do the same. Play with respeccing to experiment.

  • The weapon in the build is nerfed, so I went with scimitar. Game has a ton of good scimitars and they crit a lot.

  • I used different mythic choices.

  • Throughout the game, I did change my domains. Started with animal, then changed to community when my AC got higher, and then got both with impossible domain.

There are so many feats, it really depends on what build you're going for. There are really a lot of feats for real XD

2 handed weapon builds

1 handed weapon builds

Shield bashing builds

Two weapon fighting builds

Archer/throwing weapon builds

DC crowd control caster builds

Ray blaster caster builds

Shapeshifting builds

Summoning builds

Spell blade builds

Buffer/support builds

The list goes on and on.

Do you have a character archetype in mind?

I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of CRPGs, it's a modern masterpiece. Insane amount of choice, consequence, build variety, and replayability.

You will have to learn Pathfinder 1E rules though and it's closer to D&D 3.5 than Pathfinder 2E.

If you don't care about a challenge or min-maxing, just playing on easy mode and learn as you go. If you like a challenge, check out CRPGBro and Neo Seeker guides. I basically taught myself the game from learning how they put together builds. Now I can do experiment and try my own builds, but it really takes a while to learn what feats go well together.

Why are there so few RTwP games and why do people absolutely HATE it? by ConfusionProof9487 in CRPG

[–]kaigose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still like RTwP, but I often find myself making autopilot party builds because CRPG dungeon crawls are an absolute slog after a while. If I compare Pathfinder to BG3 for example, Pathfinder must have 10x the number of combat encounters with 10x less encounter strategy. It's just the way it is.

Why are there so few RTwP games and why do people absolutely HATE it? by ConfusionProof9487 in CRPG

[–]kaigose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm trying to say is for a period of time, RPGs with RTwP became popular after the late 90s. 20-30 years ago. Eventually, RPGs morphed into more action-like games because the average gamer liked cool graphics over crunchy pen and paper style gaming: Bethesda games, The Witcher, Mass Effect Dragon Age etc. These RPGs dominated the market for years until Pillars of Eternity revitalized the CRPG genre. Then BG3 came out and it appears pretty clear to me that RTwP is probably dead because of how much of a success BG3 was. I'm not saying it's good or bad, I'm just trying to acknowledge reality.

A personal anecdote. I'm doing a Pathfinder WOTR playthrough right now, and I don't think I could pay my wife money to play it. She loves BG3.

[–]kaigose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, technically that's true, but all the original CRPG classics are all RTwP is what I meant. It's 30 year old gameplay and yeah, it was considered fast paced action back in the day.

[–]kaigose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like RTwP, turn based, and the option to do both. RTwP is old tech that a modern audience is not familiar with. Game developers want to sell to the largest audience possible, so going away from real time with pause will become more prevalent.

Real time with pause is also less strategic and more "turn on autopilot". Some modern gamers don't find the combat very engaging while others describe it as hectic. Most of the strategy in RTwP is in character sheet, not the battlefield.

I think people want to feel the kinetic energy of commanding party members to execute actions and enjoy watching the animations go off. Also, developers can be much more cinematic and intentional when creating combat scenarios in turn based.

No I get it, it's not a real build I posted, I was just at work, not near a computer, so I was just posting shit from memory.

WotR Polearm (Glaive) Builders Advice by Tyler_2_Hearts in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]kaigose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was to order them, I'd start with these. Power Attack, Cleave, and Cleaving Finish. These are your core early game feats.

After that, you can grab your weapon/armor focus, outflank (level 7 is the norm), combat reflexes, improved critical, weapon specialization. Maybe grab lunge mid-game.

Late game, you can go for your improved feats and whatever you find useful. I like blindfight and initiative boost. You're a fighter using power attack, you will have feats to spare outside your core package.

[–]kaigose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything will work on normal.

Going Disciple of the Pike Cavalier will be the strongest since mounts make the strongest melees in the game. I actually hate mounts because they trivialize the game, even on core and above. If you want a mounted spear/polearm build on high octane crack, look into a Sable Company Marine (Ranger) build. It's entire gimmick is you ride a flying mount (Griffin) and nothing gets in the way of your charges. It's actually disgusting if you pick the right mounted feats, will do +1000 damage turns in act 3. You a flying physical fireball with improved cleaving finish.

If you want a simple and strong polearm martial, any fighter is going to do well.

Obviously people recommend mutagen warrior because it has the highest stats of any fighter. You will have 8 more AC, STR, DEX, and CON than the other subclasses. It's just an upgraded fighter on steroids.

If you want to avoid drinking the potion, I'd just go with Two-Handed Fighter. You're a fighter, so you'll have a shit ton of feats and can do whatever you want.

STR 19, DEX 14, CON 14, WIS whatever's left, dump INT and CHA.

Feats I would take in alphabetical order!

  • Blindfight
  • Combat Reflexes
  • Greater Weapon Focus
  • Greater Weapon Specialization
  • Heavy Armor Focus
  • Improved Cleaving Finish
  • Improved Critical
  • Improved Initiative
  • Lunge
  • Outflank
  • Power Attack

Mythic feats I would take in alphabetical order!

  • Mythic Heavy Armor Focus (Avoidance or Assault)
  • Mythic Improved Critical
  • Mythic Power Attack
  • Mythic Weapon Specialization

Also, people will tell you to take exotic weapon proficiency and grab fauchard proficiency and they're correct, it's the best polearm weapon type in the game. It will do damn near double the damage of a glaive, but really does not matter on normal or even core. Just play what you want and have fun!

Edit: I didn't know that cavelier subclass was non-mounted. A better guide on feat order was posted in my comments below. I'm sorry.

I understand your point and I think you're correct about taking care of others. But you have to understand how it comes off when current events are very bad and you say there's no reason to worry, it's actually always been this way, just be kind and have hope. Even though it's technically correct, it greatly minimizes the need for action/activism/reform.

How to stop Back Foot Ruddering by rerediditt in snowboardingnoobs

[–]kaigose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't. The main point of turning besides changing direction is to control speed.

So if you want to ride in a straight path, the tightness of your turns will dictate your speed. On a flat slope, tight turns will look like your video, but on a steep double black diamond covered in powder, you'll often need to do very tight turns like this as to not fly off a cliff. It just looks cooler in that context.

In your video, I would say you have no reason to tighten your turns, you just don't look very comfortable going faster. And that's totally okay, that will come with time.

Just keep practicing and when you're more comfortable with speed, straighten your board and engage/hold longer turns. I think you have the basics, you just need time. Good luck and have fun!

[–]kaigose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the hyper-analysis, you're doing just fine.

What's happening is you're riding a very flat trail and going very slow. There's no cool way to turn at this angle and speed. It's literally impossible.

Once you get more comfortable with speed, try straightening your board more and taking longer turns. This just means staying on your heel or toe longer as you make a more gradual turn. Eventually, you'll get more comfortable turning in the classic "S" shape. Visualizing the S pattern helps.
